As kid, I was always watching my dad play this game^^. I stayed namely for the music. O the joy of hearing like 10 pengo's playing all trough eachother in the big arcade halls. Haha. Good old times.

@Laurelindo SEGA also put it an updated version on their 'SEGAGAGA' Dreamcast game, that game where you need to control SEGA as a company in the Videogame industry, it's a business simulation game.

The music plays when you have to pack SEGA consoles in a warehouse.

I used to play this at a small pizza making place when I was at around 15 years of age. They gave out one free pizza to high score every week. I rocked this game for like 6 weeks straight and every week I obtained that pizza. They then were wise that no one else was winning and changed Pengo to Joust. I did not do well with Joust and won no free pizzas. Another game I really enjoyed but did not do to well with was Elevator Action. Those were some might fine times in the 80s.

Wow. I hadn't even thought of this game in about 25 years! I was just watching some documentary about early 80's video gamers, and this game showed up on the screen for a couple seconds, and I thought, "Wait a minute! I remember playing that game with the penguin and the ice blocks!", but I couldn't remember the name of it. Thanks for posting this video! Great memories of many quarters well spent!

I just saw that Kraftwerk does a version of Popcorn. That's awesome! I just played this game for 9 hours straight. Made it to act 9, 36,100 points. In this video you made it to act 8, 37,130 points. I looked it up on Twin Galaxies and you and I would be in 45th place, all time.

Pengo is my favorite videogame of all time. I still play it in my computer using MAME. I don't like the modern endless games with extremely complicated storylines. That's why I like Pengo, so simple, so fast to get a result, but not easy. My record is 299210 points (since2005).

Regarding this video, it's a good idea to use the different versions of Popcorn. Number 6 is great. It is a nice touch to use the symphonic version of Ode to Joy at stage 4 ending instead the regular arcade version.

I remember this game. On the PC, back in the 80s, it was called Pango. If you could trap one of the bees between a wall and three star blocks, the level would never end (until you squished the bee or kicked the block away) since the bee could not return to a corner to disappear.
