This song brings chills down my back every time I hear it... Really, this is why I love the Elder Scroll series. It is the kind of games that gives you that epic feeling... I dunno, maybe I'm taking the game to serioiusly, but I sweat, this song makes me cry.
@ashtray0belief Know that you are not alone, my friend. I also 'sweat' that there is so much passion I can exert into something about this series, also included are these new epic songs
The first time I heard this Odaviin was Flying around and roaring and The adventuring bard was singing this to me and I was in a forest with orange and Telly trees and I neary cried.
I have to admit, the constant switching between past and present tense sort of confuses the whole issue about if this is about the recent defeat of the dragons or about the past one. For example, "the dragons are gone" says that it's present, IE the dragons are now gone thanks to you, but in turn the "tongueS" and "gave the gift of the voice" suggest that it was in the past. Maybe it's both, and it's the tale of both of Alduin's defeats, or maybe it's about the past. Who cares, it's epic!
This song is related to the original ones to defeat Alduin. One: Your character does not give the gifts of the voice, it was the original due to Paarthrunax given it to the original three people to defeat Alduin. Also it says at the end "The dragon's are .... Gone." Noticeing this, the dragons come back, and they are still around after Alduins second defeat. Even if this is unlocked at the end of the main quest line. It doesn't mean its about your player. The Dragonborn Comes is your song.
@mahligros2 Well of course you didn't... Listen to the damn lyrics. It talks of Alduin's defeat.
Assuming you did not baet the game yet, how will you hear a song about something that has yet to happen?? No, you need to complete your destiny as Dragonborn, defeat Alduin, and THEN you will hear the song of your triumph throughout Skyrim, and be praised for all eternity! ....
@badkiller2 Funnily enough I had beat the game when I asked the question, but I don't usually pay the bards to sing a song, and hadn't hear them play it before then
@mahligros2 You don't pay the bards to play a song, they do it free. And if you never bother to lisetn to them or request songs, then how exactly did you expect to hear this song anyway?
@badkiller2 I expected to hear it because of what you said at the very begining of your comment, they play it for free occasionally anyway. I still frequently visited taverns to do other quests after the MQ but still never heard it untill I found this video.
@badkiller2 The song is about those who had originally banished Alduin. If it were about the player, there would be singulars and it would most likely refer to the Dragonborn.
@KylewTyphewn Oh really? then why does the song unlock just after the Dragonborn kills Alduin? Besides, it says of "Alduin's doom", that he is "gone" if he is eternal, "eternity is done". The ancient nords knew they didn't killed Alduin, but simply sent him "somewhere", however the Dragonborn actually killed him.
@kinvaras147 Actually when Alduin died you cant steal his soul so that means he is not dead yet maybe he will return at the end time to destroy Tamriel for his prophecy just like how dragonborn done his destiny by banishing Alduin from Tamriel.
@MrBolu14 Perhaps. but, he was already in Sovengard, so his soul might be trapped there forever. However, this doesn't changes the fact, everyone in Skyrim heard about Alduin's defeat, and they assumed it was gone for good, thus this song.
This is a good version but I like the way sven sings it a bit more... Atm. Ill need to listen to the other barde. Nice touch from beth. They should have the bards sing songs for every, or most, major quests you accomplish.
im still looking for a wife in Skyrim and im having no luck, so i go to the local pub to listen to this song, just reminds me of my GIANT SLAYING days. hoping to find a wife :/
this is the best bard song, i'm gonna beat malukah to this one!

It's as Arngeir said, perhaps Alduin will return to end the world, as his destiny. But the Dovahkiin's Destiny is fulfilled at any case.

This is the version Ogmund sings, his version is best, both because of his voice but also because of the sound in the Inn where he plays.

In my opinion,
This kind of voice is by far the best for this song.
Sven is best for "Ragnar the Red" and "The Age of Oppression/Aggression"
Female voice is best for "The Dragonborn Comes"
All of the songs are awesome!
