@KeatonFox1196 Well, one of the things I love is to be honest. And I was not at that concert and I sucerely not went to that tour (I would loved to be there). So I can´t say there were great in that particular concert or tour.
But I have saw them 3 times, in three different tours in two different countrys and I can say they were more than great in each of them.
@julianbastidas Understandable. I was just going by personal experience. From the jam at the end i knew the the guitarist was good cause it sounded pretty awesome. But i cant say they played well that night when it was there turn on stage. I enjoy there music but overall this time it was pretty awful. Off night maybe
I did like The Mars Volta on concert. Unafortunately, all the concerts that you watch after a TMV concert, it does not mind even if you watch some Death metal groups,they are going to sound lame.
you cant see the volta with seats like that. all their energy is dead by the time it gets to you. you have to see them at a small venue. i love the chili peppers but good luck trying to get good tickets to one of their shows. the mars volta kicks ass live.
mars volta didn't ruin the chili's show at all. you're friend must be a tool because rock shows are supposed to be loud. they dont suck live at all either...obviousley the chilis have more experience with live shows but you need to cut mars volta some slack...they are a great band if you give them a chance.

@julianbastidas They're the same songs, technically if you go to a concert it is just the same shit. But they just dont have that refined quality that they need. There was just to many sounds at the same time which just made it sound awful. Couldn't hear the guitarist, the singer sounded like he was drunk and there was so much percussion going off at the same time it sounded like nothing. Say what you will but they did NOT sound good when i saw them. Theres just some bands that arnt good live
@KeatonFox1196 The songs are the base for an interchange with the audience. A point of start, but not the gold. The finish line of bands like The Mars Volta goes more into exploring other ways of interpreteding the sound and silence way beyond the stands of tipically ¨hearen a good riff and a nice sounded singer¨; the are more closed with the free jazz that was started with John Coltrane´s Ascention with a bit of inspiration by the standars of jammings that King Crimson makes...
@julianbastidas I understand what your getting at and i do enjoy that type of music. But as you said it isnt about a good riff or a nice sounding singer but if it doesnt sound good whats the point? I know bands have there own way of doing things but i saw them at the concert thats on the video and it didnt transfer well to real life. They may have been going for something new that time but overall it just didnt make the journey from pre recorded tracks to live very well.

You do not need to love them for that. You can dislike them. Even hate them.

There is a differance between loud and noise, Mars Volta is noise. They should have got a local band to open for them. If you really were a Peppers fan you'd know that Pepper songs don't all sound similar.
yes they do there all have a 4/4 beat they are played in the same key and fruscainte never changes his guitar mars volta is the next u thing and how old are u 14 to 17 because i like there stuff from 1984 to 1991 i like some or there new stuff but it all sounds the same and poppy
