  • Hi! If anyone is actually using a Skystream at home...Please msg me thru here...

I would love to ask you some questions!

    Thanks.

  • Does this thing get hit by bats? I swing poi in the back yard at night, and it seems to draw the bats, but they never do hit my poi. (a skill movement toy-type in fire poi on youtube search)

  • i wanna know how much those things bring in.

  • Skystream is a very nice piece of equipment for the price.

  • kewl!

  • But it's apparently noisy and the neighbors don't like it in denser residential areas. Find the nytimes dot com article "Windmill cuts bills, but neighbors don't want to hear it" (I've been trying to get permission to install one on the roof of my apartment complex)

  • Noisy?

Don't believe everything you read that comes from corporate america. I put a skystream up at my home and you can only hear it when you open your windows and listen really closely for it or you stand directly below it. I haven't seen this article, but it sounds like the typical false information put out by those who want to keep the status quo. "Turbines are noisy, they kill birds, or they hurt my eyes with their pleasing artistic design that's calms me"...ha!

  • Well, unfortunately, my support of environmental causes stops short of pissing off my neighbors, so until I see more evidence from people who live in highly populated areas, I'm going to have to keep watching...

  • ha. yeah I had to go with seeing is believing. I saw a demonstration put on by PowerFlo in Dayton,OH. Also spoke to all my neighbors before starting the project, luckily they were all for it. Zoning commission was a different story.

  • I don't know if you're much of a blogger, but if you could document your experiences in procuring this (communication with neighbors, town, zoning commission etc.) somewhere google-able, that might be helpful for others seeking this solution! I'll keep an eye out for demonstrations near boston, ma...

  • it'd be nice if dc was an option for off-grid use. this looks so much better than the bergey and other units.

  • it does stink but if you want to go away from the bergey windturbines, south west windpower offers the Whisper series which are also very good. there's the Whisper 100,200,500. all three are very good turbines. Southwest Windpower's turbines are amazing.

  • there is an off-grid option available.
