This reminds me of a story Madman Pondo had about his stop sign. When asked what the most painful thing to be hit with that actually looks and sounds shitty, he said it was when people used his own stop sign on him. He likened it to hitting a cymbal on a drum kit; when you hit one, you don't hold it. Otherwise it would sound like you're hitting a tin can. When guys who don't know what they're doing use his stop sign, it's the same result. The trick is to let go of it as you're in mid-swing.
