I love this movie! I'm trying to become a Third Order Fransican Secular. Which means I have to live in the world and not a convent. This order was founded when married couples went to St. Francis and wanted him to make an order for married people. Which he did. Blessed be God.

yes, a new name represents a new way of life: the CFRs as well as dominicans do the same thing. there are other orders that do this, but I do not know what they are called.
This is common when you join an order. It's part of the commitment process kind of. I'm sure there is a better explanation maybe someone can explain better. Nuns do it too, sort of like you cross the threshold from the world to a life committed to God, you give up any identity/connection you had to the outside world so to speak.
No, I get it. Until recently, I was planning to join the Ordo Praedicatorum, or Order of Preachers. Ultimately, I decided I was called for something besides Holy Orders. But until that moment, I was ready to re-name myself after that fat wop from Aquino, whose works put me to sleep.
oh sorry, i must have misunderstood your question/comment. good luck with your path whatever it may be. years ago i thought about joining a convent, but realized sometimes one can do more things in one's spiritual path outside of a monastic life, but i still admire those who choose that path legitimately and their stamina to follow through.

Luther didn't take any book away from the Bible. Bothe versions were valid until the reformation, the short one -that wich accepts only the books writen in hebrew- and the long one, that of the Greeks. Only after the Trento Council did the catholic church decide that only the long version is the "only" version.
You can also love Jesus as a catholic but it's more difficult. Jesus is worshiped in your innermotst self, in spirit and truth. Luther reminded us of this.

Luther learned us to put Jesus at the center of all worship and prayer and the Word of God as the norm of our faith. You catholic still don't have this. More than 60% of italians pray padre Pio, 29% or so to the Madonna and less than 15% to Jesus. Bur only Jesus saves. Ex-catholic
This is what we call sanctity. Sanctity, when you are close to God. Sanctity, when you offer your soul to God and only to God. I don't believe Luther was able to teach you this.
"Luther learned us"- Jesus said that he is the way, the truth, and the life and therefore we should listen to what he teaches us and not people: Only God can answer our prayers and all prayers should be directed to him, Saints are only powerful intecessors between people and God and they can ask God to answer our prayers. Jesus said that a false church will be built purely on human foundations, but no saints will be taking part in it.There is only one Church founded by God-Roman Catholic Church

Oh what a lie, what a lie that Jesus is the only Son of God...God is omnipresent and thus He is all and in all. Therefore He is us and within us. This is the truth that Jesus came to bring to Earth, he did not come to be raised by men, but he did come to raise God within everything, He was especially concetrated on helping the people finding the God within. (The Kingdom of God is within you.)
This reminds me of the manliness of Our Blessed Faith. Strength is shown in manyl restraint. In the words of Paul "Gird your Loins". For what? Spiritual battle.
Martin Luthor also tried to remove 7 books from the O.T. and 4 books from the N.T., and that 500 year old "bible" is what Protestants world-wide use today.
Jesus himself said his disciples would be instruments of miracles. Both Paul and Peter rose people from the dead. That's not "occult". That's being God's instrument.
God intended His priests to dress differently. Read the last half of Exodus. And let's remember that the first Christians were Jews, and Jesus himself was called rabbi.
oclutic? I think you were meaning occultic? Maybe like Martin Luther? Who added words to the bible and was hailed as an apostle, as great as Paul by his demented followers. No sir, I think you will find Padre Pio didn't want for himself but to only serve Our Lord the best he could.
@TheManGadoosh Martin Luther didn't want for himself either..its why he wrote 95 theses to rebuke the Vatican who wanted for themselves with indulgences money
That's what we have in the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church... The fullness of Jesus in this world which includes a taste of the world to come. Know, Love and Trust Jesus? You could know, love and trust Him more as a Catholic. You're invited!
The suite is not to prevent temptations. Dont you hav school uniform? same way the priests have their uniform (read the Old Testament) as God has told them to wear. the Jewish Rabbi then n now wear the same kind of clothes. Just the pattern differs from one congregation to the other as u hav difft uniforms in difft schools. The Blessing is pronounced as the "habit" (uniform) is given to the priest. the words of St. Paul in Ephesians 6:17onwards is repeated as the clothes are being given to...
It doesn't prevent temptations but it's a profound reminder of His vows/oaths that are powerful weapons against Satan & temptations. The Franciscan Habit:made in the shape of the cross; is brown, "from dirt you came & to dirt you shall return" as a sign of humility & a reminder of death & judgement. The cord (poverty) around his waist (chastity)has 3 knots showing the 3 vows of poverty chastity & obedience. The Lord made us with matter the Franciscan habit is a constant prayer to Him with matter.
Sorry, meant to say initiation ceremony. He looked so much like he had a serious vocation.

Okay, I've always been confused about something:
Guy's name is Francesco. He joins a division of the Franciscans. They make him change his name.
Anyone care to explain that one to me.

Like when paul was made anew in the Lord his name went from Saul to Paul.

The Kingdom of God can never be within you if it is not present amongst you. No relationship and no community = no Church = No Kingdom of God.

Catholic do not worship Mary or Padre Pio but revere and venerate them as one would venerate a queen and a knight that serves the King.
