I really like your firewood rack/shed its a really bad ass idea....... but i just had one question, the posts you put on the ground, and the wood being so close to the ground, your not worried about termites? and about how much did it cost to build?
@JeffPProductions Jeff, it's all pressure treated...except for the firewood obviously. If you mean termites in the firewood, I'm not worried. My firewood wood doesn't last more than 2 seasons before it's burned up anyway. Biggest expense was the cedar shake roof....maybe $500. The rest of the lumber, etc. was less than $200.
@n1mru You are being kind by using the word "Music" to describe the noise that was coming out of my speakers. Luckily I know where the mute key is with out looking.........
But
Great wood Shed, I really like the design, especially the tool shed in the middle.........
Plans? What plans? You mean there are plans out there? Damn, that could of made my job so much easier. I was just wingin' it when I built this thing.
Shed ROCKS, Music NOT SO MUCH. - imo but not my video. I usually don't finish a video that has music I don't like but I wanted to see how your shed idea ended. It is very nice.
Fatman: Seether-Gasoline. It's posted in the fields just below the video with links to downloading it at Amazon or Itunes. I liked it. They soudn a lot like Nickleback.
@50guitar what do you mean "beef up"? don't they have periodic connections to the ground? I store wood on pallets, which are often 1/2 inch thick or less pine, and they hold about 2000lbs wet wood each NP.
@kenfo0 Right now they are 2x6s on edge....two for each row of firewood. When the firewood is still green it's heavy and caused the 2x6s to sag in the middle. So they should either be 2x8s or supported more in the middle. Right now they are supported only at the end by the vertical posts.
@50guitar yeah, you just need supports contacting the ground. It doesn't have to cost much. The only issue is whether the ground is hard enough, or if you need a few footers. good luck.
I love that cedar shake roof. Thanks for the idea ;)

Ok, so some of you don't like the music. I'm not a metal head but I like many kinds of rock and this tune really caught my ear.

i would have enclosed the sides from blowing rain but it looks good!
jmasotto07 3 months ago
@jmasotto07: The sides are intentionally left open for air cicrulation around the wood so it will season.

The roof shingles were the biggest hit...over $500. Landscape timbers & 2x6s were cheap. Plywood was relatively cheap too. All in all around $750.

After I deplete this supply of wood I'm going have to beef up the floor joists. They're 2x8 and they're sagging under the weight of the green wood.
