I love watching clips from the Zoo TV Era, but there's something about Macphisto that unsettles me and creeps me out! But then again, I suppose that's the whole point of the character! When I see him doing that jittery walk and talking in that posh English accent, I have to force myself to remember that the real Bono is still inside! Zootv and PopMart showed how amazing Bono is when it comes to expressing his voice during difficult songs like Lemon.

Sadly i agree with ifkaMi that his voice at two Vertigo gigs i attended was not on par with what i have heard before in a live show.

They say he lost some of his range after smoking heavy in the early to late 90's but if this is the case how has Mick Jagger able to speak....LOL

I still wonder what the hell is Edge playing, if anything at all in this song. Either the guitar was drowned out by the synth sound or he's just strumming for visual effect.

believe it or not, that hiccup-py synth sound IS the Edge playing through a "Pan" effect at an extreme high intensity. the one that comes in at 00:35 is him.

sorry not "pan" i made a mistake, i meant "tremolo." "pan" is the volume going from left to right speakers and back. tremolo is that hiccupy effect, as if the guitar is on a CD that's skipping. if you listen to the beginning of "boulevard of broken dreams" by green day the first 5 seconds is a distorted guitar strumming through a heavy tremolo pedal also, just for reference.

He could sing it 15 years ago when ZOOTV tour was preforming - his voice was awsome, but unfortunately nowdays his voice breaks on less demanding songs, like in his live preformance of One on Vertigo tour, saw it in U2 3D just two weeks ago.
