Timeless. could have been sung by the Detroit Emeralds in the seventies or Dusty in the Sixties. I used to hate Orange Juice and their ilk in the 80's and now I'm starting to realise what a great songwriter Edwyn Collins really is and how influential his music has been on a lot of current UK guitar bands... they even look like Orange Juice for goodness sake!

But we should remember that Edwyn Collins is 50-something (quite a bit older than you and me) and suffered a stroke, which left his ability to sing and play music in very serious doubt. Yet, despite that, he was able to compose a nifty and musically upbeat song like this. If his heart and soul could endure that pain, maybe the rest of us could learn a thing or two from him.

an inspiring man, to top it all he's playing in july at lounge on the farm in kent. he's headlining the sunday of the festival which truly shows the progress and the determination he has shown since his illness. long live such a brave, honorable and talented man.

I saw Edwyn at Lounge on the Farm yesterday. It was inspiring but his illness has had an obvious effect unfortunately. His new album stuff sounded quite good and of course A Girl Like You was amazing but due to the illness he cant hit as many notes and he was heavily supported by the band, but then again after the illness he had he would obviously need support. The man should however be very proud of himself.

this was recorded before his strokes (ethe music not the video) so its him after the strokes on the video, meaning he is paralysed in his right arm ect but his voice is from before his strokes. still, if you watched the doc you will see he is still gettin on well and has physio and hes learning to play the guitar with his left hand and read/write again. his vocie now isnt as good as it was then but hes working his way there and he will try go on tour with orange juice! gotta admire him...
