"As a tribute to Kimura's victory, the reverse ude-garami technique he used to defeat Gracie, has since been commonly referred to as the Kimura lock, or simply the Kimura, in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and, more recently, mixed martial arts circles." Learn right. Nerds, no sense of humor.
That was bizarre. I don't know if he's ready for Rashad, but he's definitely going to do well in that division. A rematch with Gustaf would be awesome, but also a step back at this point. However, they will meet again.
@bogoio His wrestling is better than Jones. It's the stand-up that Davis really needs to improved although he looked better standing up against Lil Nog who is a very accomplished boxer. When he fights Rashad, he'll not have fought for 10 months. If he used that time to really work on his stand-up, we might see an even better Phil Davis
@mookixox Wow, i have never heard anyone talk down rampage like that. Rampage is an o.g. have some respect, your the piece of shit you bandwagon noob...
Under normal circumstances I would pick Evans to beat Davis at this point in their careers. But nothing is normal about this matchup. Evans is 31, he won't have fought in over a year when he meets Davis, and the last time we heard much from Rashad was when he hurt his knee before his scheduled fight against Shogun.
So...I'm going to take Mr. Wonderful to beat Rashad.
Well, having trained in MMA and wrestled for 4 years. That is a very hard position to escape with someone like Davis, nearly impossible actually. There SEEMED like there was an opening, but Phil's right hand was clasped under Tim's back, even with a hip escape or a turn it would've ended with it in his armpit causing even more pressure on the shoulder. No one want's to risk shoulder injuries. Hope this helps.
Actually Phil Davis is the first guy I thought of after seeing Shogun get dominated by Jones. Maybe a couple more fights for Davis and we'll know if that makes sense or not for those two to be fighting. Davis has the size and athleticism that would let him stand a good chance.
its will never really be a very practical or successful submission in MMA because from that position most fighters could easily escape. for example all tim boetsch had to do was push his right hand under phil's body and push off with his right foot against the ground and he could have turned over quickly and and rolled himself into a better more comfortable position or even escaped altogether. there was a big enough gap between their bodies to turn himself over. tim aint very good on the ground
@hollowghost2 yeah its obviously easier said than done, itd be hard for me to do it myself of course, but for MMA fighters they're trained and conditioned so itd be easier, for practically every single bad position or submission in all of MMA there are ways to escape or improve the position, there are definately some fighters that could escape or improve on that position davis had boetsch in. you can see from the camera angle he had a way to escape, just didnt think or know how to.
@THEOMEGAADVISOR Not from the position Davis did it from nor is the angle correct to be a hammerlock. He is basically doing a kimura but from the north-south position. It is a wonderful technique that you won't see from many fighters.
I love it. Its awesome having guys create new submissions, it makes the sport a more artistic process. Looks like Jones might have some competition down the line...
@darkNovaskar HAHA i love wearing compression pants more than the next greg jackson fighter. but it takes some bowling balls to wear that in our sport which is considered gay as is
Yeah, thats excellent so make it a habit. Spread it to the whole world, dude. So, is that a new submission tech? what do you call that? thanks for posting this vid.
@ssttEvoooo yea, it seems like a move you'd have to be strong as shit to pull off. def not a move most mma fighters would even attempt let alone pull it off
