Someone making a network like this would learn a great deal on many different subjects that can be applied to other similar projects, and real world applications.

@maeseatila the linking protocol was then utilised in the making of a network that could support an arbitrary number of calculators linking with a server via the internets, allowing them to join irc channels, play games with one another, or any number of other possibilities. the practical application is a marvellous learning experience for the developer, and hours of entertainment for the rest of us.

When I studied electronics, we had TI82 and 84 calculators adn just as it's done here, we networked them. As it was eletronics that we studied, making a simple radio link and a few software tricks, we where able to send text messages that appeared on everyones calculators, just like a primitive IRC channel.
