Much respect to Tonga, but Tongans told me that Tongans were also slaves to the TuiTonga.Secondly, not all of Samoa came under Tongan rule.The Samoan districts of A'ana & Atua & Manu'a weren't ruled by Tonga;The TuiTonga only ruled parts of Samoa where he had connections since, as knowlegable Tongans concur, he was part Samoan. Parts of Samoa, that is. Mainly because many were part Samoans & were easily accepted. Besides, some knowelegable Tongans add that both races were speaking the same language, suggesting we were one people until Tonga decided to free itself of the rule of the TuiManu'a (a Samoan king) & establish its own kingdom. Overtime, our cultuers & language became different;still there are a lot of similarities; Royal Tongan language closely resemble Samoan.
