  • Well thank you very much!

  • good idea. one additional comment. hold the keyboard upside down while you clean it. that way if there is any water in the magic eraser it doesn't drip into the keyboard.

  • Wow! How to clean your mac keyboard - use a cleaning product!!!! What are you people? Lame brains! Next please, could you tell me how to clean my shoes, pick my nose, stroke my pussy (no, please don't answer that one)

  • lol yesterday i replaced the keyboard on my macbook... not an ibook

  • said by a person who has not had a white one...

  • i just clean my mac with a normal white eraser. it takes a while, but hey, it works.

  • we have mr.clean in canada

  • Use IKlear.... and stop picking your ass and then using your mac.

  • this is a bad idea. those scrubs rubs away a microscopic level of whatever your cleaning.

  • MONSTER SCREEN CLEAN! simple

  • This is a great video. But to be honest....The magic erasers aren't the best......they might work the best or better than just water, okay but if you any water or anything in the keyboard while you are wiping it down your keyboard will be shot. What i use is nail polish remover, it gets rid of anytning. It works great. =)

  • i just turn my computer off and clean it with a cotton ball

  • fuck tard.. wring out all the fucking water!!! macbooks are extremely sensetive to water!

  • I cannot believe you would do this to your mac!! Did the magic eraser stuff get you high before you did this?!

  • @Feicphoto Lol you can get high on Magic Erasers products?

  • i put mines in the dishwasher.

  • just use some alcohol.... only a little on a soft cloth...

  • ok so if our £900 laptops fuck up and we have to lie to apple? haha, i'm just going to tell them some cunt on youtube told me it worked, when now only 3 of my keys work and the trackpad doesnt.

  • @bradnightmare Doesn't matter how much you paid for it. If you do something to screw it up, you can't expect them to fix it for free. That's why you pay for insurance, which is a separate payment all together. Sometimes they're just nice about it anyway and understand your pain and fix it for free. It depends on your attitude when you take it in and the member of staff having a good day and feeling nice or not lol.

  • omg! i can't do this on my macbook...

    the keyboard is getting wet!!!

  • oh god this is painful to watch. Your keyboard is drenched.

  • Yea just so you know, that magic eraser is actually just a really fine type of sandpaper, so your actually not cleaning so much as your sanding shit off. I would never use this on a computer.

  • this is available in Canada too

  • Anyone with half a brain can clean a piece of plastic surface but how do you get rid of the dust that collects under the keys. That is, taking this thing apart and showing how to best remove the dirt under the keys would be much much more helpful.

  • @phibess Best way is to get a hand held vacuum cleaner, cover the end with a sock or a pair of tights/nylons and just going over the thing with the keys removed. Use some earbuds with cleaning alcohol for the stubborn bits (I stress alcohol because it dries VERY fast and doesn't leave residue behind like if you used some kind of soap based cleaning agent or something. It steralises it too). Use a lint free cloth (I find the microfibre cloth you get with the Mac or glasses best) to rub it down.

  • it works just as well dry. no need for water on the eraser.

  • Dude, all you need is 70% RUBBING ALCOHOL ! That's it. It's even safe on a GLOSSY MONITOR! That's right. I have been doing this for years. I use it on my white Mac Pro's keyboard, plasma TVs, LCD monitors, Laptop (all surfaces) Mouse, etc. It doe NOT remove the letters, doesn't remove the paint from any laptop and your shit is squicky clean and disinfected. If you use higher than 70% it will fuck your gear up. Of course, you also need the RIGHT thing to clean it. No fiber cloth needed either.

  • RETRO INTRO

  • whoa whoa whoa... NO! do not use this.... i use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers as a mom on things that you don't even want to think about, and I use gloves before I start cleaning "kid affected areas" because of what it does to your hands. DO NOT EVER USE THIS ON ANYTHING YOU CARE ABOUT. ...Ever. EVAR!!!

  • best thing is to use good old alcohol/perfume on a tissue and then wipe it... tada! all gone! :D

  • -________- magic erasers are like very very very veeeeery fine sand paper. if you rub it too long it will take the print off the keys

  • You went to wendy's didn't you. lol.

  • Stupid Apple fags can't do anything right... If you have one of those stupid Macbooks you can't remove your battery from, DON'T USE LIQUIDS TO CLEAN IT.

If you have an older one and can remove your battery, you can practically drown it without any damage - as long as you let it dry.

  • my whole topcase is UNUSABLE! It needs to be replaced! DON'T try this! This sponge appears to be dry but it's soaked with water.

  • Stopped watching after "If any of you has"

  • @fatstrat06 I would turn it off, too, after hearing that.

  • COMPUTER AND KEYBOARD RUINED TY TO YOU

  • firstly, clean your hands

  • pause ar 1:24, the enter button is sick

  • "obviously the first thing you wanna do before embarking on this is you wanna throw your macbook away and buy a decent computer"

  • What an idiot.

  • This video is a waste of 5 minutes. Although I did try it with magic eraser, but not with water! OMG! I can't believe this has been viewed over 100,000 times.

  • You know don't need to even use water! I just tried it on a very dirty white macbook and didn't use water. It's like an eraser. Forget the water.

  • Peter Gabriel-Sledgehammer

  • mr clean looks like a rapeist

  • @leif4884 lmfao!

  • @ToonieU thumbs up it haaha

  • Why the fuck do you got the cam 2 centimeters from the keybaord !? We are not blind ffs!

  • cleaning keyboards is the business of removing skin excretions, food stuck on your fingers and pen/pencil strokes. whatever you see is stuck on the keys, whatever pertaining cleaning agent you use.

the most important point is not to let the water get under at all (...DUH)

i use tooth paste and it always works.

For the dudes screwed up and are trying to put the blame on this dude who was only trying to tell you something good, you should just accept the fact that you SUCK AT BEING SUBTLE

  • If you are so scared about getting water in the keybord why dont you just remove the keys, it may take time but it might be the best way of cleaning it without the risk.

  • That's what happened to me too. I had to wait a day for a couple keys to work again.

  • My cousin cleans hers with a wipes like Lysol or something like that, and then she air sprayed it to, I think dry the keyboard off or just blow off dust.

  • I clean with Cif Cream and fibre cloth - cleans very well, but that works only for palmrest, keys and screen surrounding. Does not work for base and top lid.

Also dont do this way if your macbook just dusty - this way is for discoloured ones (yellow, brown).

  • thats why i bought a macbook pro :D

  • O_O I can't believe he would put so much water on it at all

  • a kids/baby wet wipe i found the best with kitchen towel to wipe dry. screen damp kitchen towel the smallest spot poss of washing up liquid and wipe screen, toilet roll (softer) 1mtr rolled up to dry screen. 5mins later spotless white mac. same for the cables, headphones, charger, back of iphone baby wet wipe.

    stay safe pip

  • really?

    wow bud, quite the video

  • hahahahahahaahXDDDD u key what a dumbass!

damp cloth with a hint of kitchen greaser is what i use

and for lcd screens get a bath towel and some water and wala!

  • Wow, this guy, omg. lol. That is TOO MUCH water; I'm dying watching this.

  • DO NOT USE A SPONGE! use a damp cloth.

  • Do not, I repeat DO NOT do what this dude did in his example. When I was a youngin and I saw this video and did exactly what this guy did. WRONG. I ended up paying for it later. I didn't think that the water (showns in 2:22) would hurt my comp either. Regrettably , I payed for it. Comp didn't work for a month, turns out I ended up replacing out the keyboard all together.

Years after now, I figured out you don't really need that much water at all. The eraser itself is powerful. such a n00b I was.

  • You're a complete idiot. I would never, NEVER NEVER do that with my macbook!!! First off that magic eraser is SOAKING wet, look at the streaks on the keyboard. "Water stuck under the keys" pfff.

    Never do this.

  • Is that BOOGER?

  • BLEECH WORKS EVERY TIME. Get a little bit of bleech on the corner of a peice of kitchen towel and in a circular motion rub the keys.

  • you need cyberclean

  • this guy is retarded, and so are you if you tried this

  • *sigh* .. the G5 was an amazing chip :( too bad it was horrible at pwr management and heat..

  • NO WATER AT ALL.

  • use rubbing alcool and rub your keybord with a qtip

  • 4:34

I just finished rubbing of my keyboard

    lol

  • wtf is he talking about you cant replace the keyboard? uh.. i just replaced mine..

  • i just replaced too lol

  • Wouldn't it be easier to use your computer with clean hands?

  • @hirstey yea sure if you want to wash ur hands EVERY time you use your computer

    -_-

  • @hirstey

Over time it'll still get dirty due to shedding skin and body oil.

  • @hirstey that's crazy talk.

  • @hirstey You mean totally avoid the natural buildup and scrape-away of skin cells that build up on everything? That's impossible.

  • I would never trust this on electronics! I cleaned marker off my wooden table and it ate away the varnish!!!! use cyberclean. Im not advertising anything

  • APPLE APPLE APPLE! but your user name is dell? lol

  • @warxofxbetrayl

Like me he is a convert. I used to be a big Dell fan. Then I saw the light :)

    AppleForLife

  • my gawd u wet ur macbook?

  • you fucken idiot yes its avalibul out of the u.s i live in canada and i use one

  • terrible video.. did you use a camera phone? it's too shaky and too close. pick a place to leave your camera a few feet behind you. i can't even finish watching even if it might be useful information, it's giving me a headache!

  • horrible camera! everything is blurry and filmed way too close up....

  • Moshi makes an amazing keyboard cover... super thin, can't even tell its there. i have one and my keys never get dirty, i simply remove the cover and wipe it down, and replace it.

this guy needs a tripod... and some video editing skills

  • its weird my mbp 13" late 09's option key dose not say option and alt it just says alt and a z- type symbol, probably because I have a British keyboard layout.

  • @RockingGeekVideos

    Yeah same with min.

  • lol go buy "cyberclean"

  • Thanks, this will help me clean the keyboard from the random programmer's feeding and also from all the blood splat of stupid people.

  • in spain is called Don Limpio

    XD

  • its available in Canada so that's good! :)

  • Ya bad idea alcohol and a normal sponge or cloth works awesome. A light amount of alcohol on the sponge just enough to moisten it works awesome. Why do you think electrical parts cleaner is made from alcohol

  • future reference, it is available outside of the US.

  • Idiots.

  • dude, i just use a normal rubber eraser! it works! no kid!

  • Um...I tried this and it FRICKEN RUINED MY COMPUTER!

  • he did it wrong. if you're going to clean the KEYBOARD with the magic erasers, you have to do it VERY LIGHTLY. the erasers are really only meant for the outter parts of the laptop.. like besides the keyboards.

  • This guy is retarded.

  • @Halle678 how did it ruin your computer?

  • @Halle678

Try using the Mr. Clean magic earaser and put a little bit of water on it while your computer is off just remmber to make sure the sponge is damp not wet if its dripping itll fuck up your keyboard

  • @Halle678 before making shit, what happened with you computer?

  • @Halle678

Hey Dumbass, this is exactly why you dont use any other method than what Apple Inc. Specifically recommends to clean it. Its all on you bitch! Btw, I have a Mac Pro, and a wireless bluetooth keyboard, rubbing alcohol works extremely well.

  • @Halle678 that's cuz you took mac advice from a guy with a dell username. tsk tsk. the battle rages on.

  • @Halle678 so how are you typing?

  • yeah u can buy it in the uk

  • I worked in an office with lot of equipment and computers. The technician that did the maintenance on this equipment used only alcohol to clean everything. This is what I use at home with great success. Just alcohol and a soft cloth. Thats all. I never had any problems with it.

  • MEISTER PROPPER ! ! ! !

  • Nice call on these, I bought a box today and my wireless mac keyboard and mighty mouse are spiffy clean!

I do have a tip though, if you make something too wet on the keyboard try using a can of compressed air.

  • OMFG, how stupid can you be putting a tutorial, on how to clean your keyboard -.-

Just get a napkin and wipe

  • i just used lemonscented cleaningtissues. works like a charm lol, and it smells good xD

  • I'm sure Apple would rather you buy a new machine than to clean it :D

  • and i'm sure you were watching this to figure out how to clean the semen off of yours.

  • well i was with your mom and had to pull out so her macbook got a little dirty...it was worth it, after all we don't need another you

  • Ahh Wendy Napkins, What would we do without them :D

  • Be warned: Mr Clean magic erasers are a melamine foam which is highly abrasive. It will leave dull scuffs on a soft plastic like the macbook casing. I tried it on a little spot on mine and it did this. They're AMAZING for other household stuff!

  • dduuuuuuuuuuudddeeeee

  • why dont you just remove all the keys and put them in a bucket of cleaning stuff..

  • white toothpaste works pretty well too..

  • Genius man.

  • Im too afraid of hurting my baby with this method. Mr Clean is strong shit. Stick to damp clean rag, your macbook shouldnt be ridiculously dirty anyway

  • I use hand sanitizer on toilet tissue and it brings it off straight away.

  • This producht exists in Germany, but the brand is called Mr. Propper here^^

  • ya ya das da gut scheize :))

  • People, this is NOT a good idea. Only use a sightly damp microfibre cloth for cleaning your macbook or macbook pro... DO NOT use any cleaning products or chemical-based sponges or cloths.

  • ditch that annoying intro

  • im to nervous if u didnt say anything about the U key i woulda down it but i dont wana brake it lol

  • i use qtips bleach and water and works excellent!!!

  • just say to them you used iklean and it broke

  • i use baby wipes :)

  • so so much water

  • OMG, it's Gary Glitter!!

The Magic Eraser is great (especially for getting crayon of the wall), but it also starts to crumble with use (being disposable), which I suppose could drop bits down inside. So at the least I'd use a brand new one and do it gently.

  • estas pendejo xD

  • i use IKlear

  • same here dude

  • love that stuff!!

  • 2:26 It's a Wendy's napkin!!!

  • You are risking the mac's function

  • if any of you has a white macbook.....

    LEARN SOME ENGLISH!!!

    Lol. Jk... maybe not..

  • Your name is kinda ironic, dell, when you have apple products :P

  • and after that, put it in the washing machine !

  • mr clean had an afro.......

  • I just tried this since I happened to have some of those pads sitting around. Does it work? HELL YES it does! Took me about 5 minutes & my keyboard literally looks BRAND new! Here's MY tip though. Use a tiny drop of water on the corner of the pad. You don't need any more. Give each key about 3 quick swirls & you're good. After a 1 row snip off the edge of the pad that's damp & dirty, add another drop of water & continue. I had NO issues or concerns with water leakage into my keyboard that way.

  • no this takes the color out of the mac!!! it bleaches it. its bad for it!!

  • how do you even get a keyboard that dirty. I had this keyboard over a year now and mines still looks in mint condition

  • I'm getting a macbook soon i was wondering do they get dirty often? and erm does it come with an application were i can write essays and print off for school work?

and do they have an msn for a mac?

  • Microsoft office for Mac, there is a reason its the number one choice.

    (Not an Apple hater.)

  • These days Macs have pretty much all the same programs that Windows have.

  • watch out posting shit like that will make retarded pc fans hate you.. but its true everything there is for a pc now days is on mac plus with boot camp virtually everything is on mac just run windows.

  • you can replace the keyboard :D

  • :) i just use some household rubbing alcohol to clean my keyboard

  • Maaaaaaaate you talk..... ok.....

just clean the keyboard and if you break it then you can replace it yourself ... hehehhehehe

  • at 0:11 are those the old ones

  • Why does it have a picture of a Gay man on the front of the box, lol.....

  • song at te start : Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel

  • So boring. It's not brief at all.

  • wots the song at the start

  • thanks, i have an aluminum keyboard and it gets dusty no matter how many times i wash my hands :)

  • Now that's clean.

  • thats a wendys napkin lol

  • Alcohol is better than water, it dries fast. Also, Mr. Clean often works great without water. If you use the eraser on dry erase boards, then you never have to clean them with solution.

  • It is avail. in U.S.

  • He said that. xD What he said was that "I'm not sure if it's available outside of the US." =P

  • Lol, napkins from wendy's.

    Nice. xD

I will definitely try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser method tomorrow. :)

  • that was one filthy keyboard...

  • lint free cloth a a few wipes

  • MR CLEAN PITTIES TEH FOOLS who cleans his keyboard with him

  • Use 100% alcohol for liquid and for wipes, use a Q-Tip and micro-fiber cloth. This method will not cause electrical or sticky problems with your device as the liquid will quickly evaporate & the micro-fiber cloth leaves little to no lint.

If you are cleaning your white Mac Keyboard that would have come with Macs before the aluminum iMacs came out, you can pop off each and every key and put them in zip-lock bags 50% filled with mild soap and luke-warm water. Let sit 5mins, shake, empty, dry.
