@orlandothx It is not really a camo.. This B-24 was most likely an old war-weary bomber that was used as an assembly ship, or formation former.. i.e it met up with the bomber stream at a set point and all the bombers formed up around it, into their proper positions.. Then it flew back to base and the bombers flew on to their target for the day! The assembly ships had very bright colours so they could be easily seen.. :) :)
@BasicModelling i do got some modern planes but i dont realy enjoy building them i do build ww2 cars and ships to i did got a total base but it kind of fell it wasnt realy nice after that:( and do you got some tips for painting the models i suck in that=)
@blackninjamoh Use Humbrol enamels, paint with a flat 10 mm brush for any larger areas, and do any camo patterns with a smaller rounded brush.. they have to be soft but not too soft! That's the basic needs for a good paint job.. :)
A B24 crashed when it hit north stack on holyhead mountain in 1944. A few years ago some local divrs recovered a propellor from it which is now a memorial in the breakwater park.
@Carlos328 Ha ha ha ha.. Sorry, I'm a bit slow... Yes, I used to follow that 'show' on YouTube.. and I'm quite sure that this kit will indeed 'blend'... :) Ha ha ha ha ha..
The kit makes a nice little model I have to say :) :) Nice build :) everything in the 1:144 model kits us so small! Still, they take up space very economically which is good :)
@2002And If you don't mind waiting a week or so you'll get the full build! I started it yesterday, did some more this morning but it's a bit fiddly and slow at the moment. I expect that once I have done all the boring stuff, the main assembly and paintwork should be fairly quick.. :)
@2002And Well, the B-17 took all the glory, for some reason.. just like the Hurricane always has lived in the shadow of the Spitfire, in spite of being the plane that did most of the work during the Battle of Britain.. :)
@BasicModelling Yup, the Hurricane played a larger part in the war than the Spitfire in my and it seems yours opinion :) The Spitfire may have the looks but the Hurricane was more practical :)
@2002And The only reason I have done so many Spits lately is that it is 75 years this year since it first flew.. I'm really a Hurricane fan at heart.. :)
@BasicModelling Yes, I read in the Airfix Model World Magazine, that it was the Spitfire's 75th anniversary :) The Magazine was a Spitfire Special including a building review of the new Airfix 1:48 Mk.XII Spit' kit which I have to build some time in April :) Do you receive that magazine through the Airfix Club?
@MilitaryAircraft101 I more or less only use Humbrol 11, and always do at least two thin layers with a flat brush, sometimes even three.. Stir the paint well, and often, as you paint.. :)
@234trusto It doesn't say on the box.. but there's not many parts, so probably a level 2, I'd say.. maybe even a level 1, depending on how you look at it.. :)
@JONSKATEVIDS That tend to be the case with most of the veterans now.. Not many left of them! But whoever they were, and whatever they did, there will always be somebody remembering them..
@JONSKATEVIDS my grate grandfather flew those to. 15th airforce, shot down, and was a POW for a little bit then broke out some how and got back home some how lol. but ya its a sweet aircraft.
@RC18B92 Soe are.. and some aren't!! As with any make of models, the quality varies.. THIS was a good kit, but their B-17 isn't that brilliant.. and I'm not sure what their larger scale kits are like, in 1/72 or bigger.. :)
@sergeant137 Haven't built anything in 1/144 for ages.. I may have a kit or 2 yet to do though, even if I can't recall exactly what of at the moment.. :)
Hand brush, always.. preferably sable, if I can.. but more often than not regular nylon brushes.. they can't take too many washes in the paint removal stuff though.. :P
i , surprisingly, have mastered the art of the glue gun, and i use a low temp that is perfect for holding together models. It looks like anyother model! i save $20 doing it to! (its also alot faster!)
I think honestly Minicraft is very underrated, their models have an excellent reaction to spray paint! And like yours, my Minicraft KC-97 Stratotanker has no flash! (other than parts connected to the sprue)
Yes, I had started a build of their B-26 Marauder too.. (a very nice kit) but had an accident with it, so its one and only flight was into the nearest bin.. :( I also have a Minicraft 1/144 B-17 Flying Fortress to build, but have a small issue with the gun turrets on that kit.. won't stop me from building it though, it just won't get done anytime soon.. :) I may get a Minicraft B-29 as well.. the kits are cheap, nice and save a lot of space.. :)
It's a very nice little kit (In my opinion)! I would have posted a video of me building it, but I dropped the whole thing on the floor,,and damaged the landing gear beyound repair.. :( The canopy is very fiddly to paint as well.. :) But the kit is not bad for an early 1/144 model..
Thanks.. When I posted it on KurtGnu me and BaronKrolok had a discussion on the topic of the stripes, and come to the conclusion that the Liberator this is based on must have been a 'formation ship', a bright coloured plane that the other bombers formed on, to make sure the formation was correct in lati- and longitude, before setting course on their target. Formation ships where often war weary old air craft, and always returned to base after having done their duty.. :)
Thank you.. I will repost anything that I have in the archive, but obviously ONLY the videos made after I got THIS computer.. :) I may upload some other aircraft related videos as well, but not sure yet.. :)
Not a bad idea, actually.. but these 'leds' aren't too bad, as they come in different sizes.. :)Some models howevere require a lot of weight in the nose, but the kit makers don't always allow the space needed.. so it may be worth thinking about!! ;)
i had this kit 20 years ago and i have a big doubt since.... what camo is that??? yellow-green stripes??? thxs
