  • Biologists define instinct as complex unborn knowledge, e.g. bees build hives and do their communication dance, birds build nests. Humans have nothing of the sort. People toss around the word "instinct" carelessly all the time.

  • By the way, Allison Armstrong, in her own words, used to be a radical feminist. Read her bio on understandmen(dot)com. What snapped her out of it was a friend's observation that she constantly emasculated the men in her life, including her own son. That realization shocked her and put her on a different path: one toward understanding men rather than manipulating them. I think she's a genius. She understands me better than I understand myself.

  • Delicious and very helpful for those just getting started on the path of onderstanding natures.

  • I always love it when Allison Armstrong comes on Dennis Prager's show, she seems so nice.

  • Humans do not have instincts. Only animals do.

  • @Truthsabre777 sometimes we are just debating semantics

  • @davkanik No we are not.

  • @Truthsabre777 What exactly do you mean with instincts? Of course we have instincts.

  • @PirateXzibit

It is true. To simplify animals have no choice in their behavior, humans do.

We can discuss further if you like.

  • @PirateXzibit It would take more than the space here to explain it.

  • @Truthsabre777 I see where you are going. If you want you can send me a PM to explain. I'm not looking for a debate though.

  • Excellently done and presented! This is valuable for adults but I think it's accessible for teens as well. I think it would be wise for parents to watch this with the teens as they enter the dating years. And it's must-viewing for adults who are moving toward marriage!

  • Or men are generally both masculine and feminine, and women are twice as much feminine as men. Distorting this biological reality only leads to ugly problems.

  • Having listened to Allison Armstrong on Prager's show, I've gotten a lot of good ideas for keeping my marriage a happy one. It's not enough to want it, you have to know how to do it. She's an absolute gem. I wonder how many marriages could be saved if couples just knew how their partner ticked.

  • Enjoyed the content of the video Thank you for the points Alison. My one distraction was the usage of a T Rex in the same time zone of our human ancestors. Unless this was a joke poked at the Flintstones, it tends to perpetuate the myth that man and dinosaur walked the earth simultaneously. How about A Saber Toothed Tiger? Scary enough. Their clothes were skins made of leopards...

  • I think as a whole this totally applies, but I'm a man that doesn't have a one track mind or is bothered when I am corrected. I can share my attention or focus it on whatever I feel like deserves it most. TV's on, girlfriend walks in with something to say, my attention goes to her. It's not an innate drive for all males to have this one track mind, but I do find this video informative. Nice job

  • So pretty much men have to think about things that aren't of any interest to them, and come up with and ask more questions instead of doing stuff they want to do, and women just have to overcome their natural instinct of nuisance by not rudely interfering in what men say. Yeah, that sounds like a fair deal...

  • @ymarcov So you're saying that a husband shouldn't try to avoid being distant from his wife, and that a wife shouldn't try to let her husband have some free time?

Life among mankind requires compromise. I don't see why you're trying to portray these principles in such a hateful light :P

  • I agree with what *you* said, but it's not what *I* said. :) The 2 principles described in this video are unfair and are honestly a disgrace towards women. It portrays women as some "sit in the back and not do anything useful" while men are "out hunting and fixing stuff". Women should be held to a much higher standard than "trying to control their silly unreasonable instincts". This video should have concluded that men should be more sensitive, and women should be more goal-orientedl.

  • @ymarcov The video pretty much exactly concluded that men should be more sensitive, as well as women being more understanding. Really it concluded that both genders should be more understanding of what battles they fight in order to be rational animals, rather than just animals.

If it means men should devote time to communicate with their wives and give them attention, and that women should avoid correcting needless details in their husbands' stories, then I don't see the problem here.

  • Once again, Mr. Prager demonstrates his love for CLARITY. This time the clarity comes forth from the vessel known as Allison Armstrong. It's always a pleasure when she is the guest on his 'Male / Female' hour.

Thank you Mr. Prager. I look forward to more videos presented by Allison.

  • @JustSomeOldGuy I agree.Listening to Allison on the Dennis Prager show is always a delight.

  • Allison Armstrong is a great addition to Prager U. This is a good example of her ability to convey complicated relationship details with simple--not simplistic--examples. That ability makes her an effective professor in a 5 minute lecture format. Very good choice.

Next time I would like to hear opinion/advice on nature vs nurture, as it relates to mother-daughter relationship; and how can a husband understand the complicated aspects better.

  • Right on ...

  • Thank You!

  • More proof that true wisdom and political correctness are mutually exclusive.

  • It is so easy for social conservatives to blame feminism for this disconnect, instead of actually doing real work to think. This video doesn't judge, it merely offers explanations and solutions. THANK YOU PRAGER U!!!

  • @ TheJediCharles & militarybooks: You two are so right! If everyone listened to Dennis, this world would be a exceptionally better place. And everyone needs to go to an Alison Armstrong seminar, especially if you are a couple, to ensure a strong and lasting marriage!

  • Dennis, you and your crew have just packed a lifetime of wisdom into a 5 minute video.

  • @timsp1 I KNOW!! How does anyone do that?

  • Armstrong + Prager = Eureka!

  • Dennis Prager is a genius in so many ways. This video hits one of the main differences that divide sexes and destroy marriages. I would add one thing: COMMUNICATE OPENLY to your spouse. Communication is the key, coupled with understanding the point of this video.
