that was a great day out thanks to shires, mine was the fourth camel defender who joined in at the last drive through the puddle. great fun. they used ali sand ladders by the way :-)
One of the best videos on here. LOved it great shots at the end. I wish all the brits dident take all them damn defender 110s we have none over here state side.
Hello There, Just wondering, the boke with the galvanized bog mats mounted on the side of rig, where abouts did he get them from? I really would love to know. ARB doesn't sell them, you know who does?
They're military PSP (Pressed Steel Plank), you can get it most army surplus places but frankly not worth the effort, they're very heavy and bend quite easily. Aluminium ones weigh less but bend more. They're more for soft ground than any sort of bridging. That and looking nice ;)
Thanks very much. The army used to make highways out of them here Australia but now they're rare as hen's teeth, extremely hard to find. My Dad keeps three of them alway stored under the tray of his 110. he's had them for 30 years. rusty brown and all. I'm very interested in getting some, especially if they are galvanized, and for mud and sand conflicts. If you know where to get some from in England, I'm chasing 4 of them. Any idea what the average price is. Could you let me know. Thanks mate.
Have a look on eBay for "steel sand track" or check anchor supplies, Vass, or witham specialist vehicles (all ex-MOD stuff).
Last I looked at a local army surplus place it was about £30 per ~3-4m length (to make two normal tracks from), although expedition shops charge silly money.
undoubtly the best off-roaf vid I've seen so far because it combines my two favorite things, my two LRs! My Land Rover Defender 90 and my black Labrador Retriever!Lol Two great things the british gave to the world! A big thanks from Portugal, and keep up that great greenlaning in the Shire.
The first "thing" to appear may not be a Land Rover, but is a LR, or should I say a Labrador Retriever! lol Lol
How did you manage to get that guy out of the water, and keep it that way? Surely you must had 'im locked in one of the cars!lol Cause they are water fools, those dogs!
aa ok sorry man i had a arguement i didnt mean to take it out on you that sounds lik fun wat u done i run a nissan safari/patrol y60 its like a tank shes nearly 20 n she drives like new heehee ive had no magor problems with her just the basics lik air oil filter litle bit of dirty desale all gd tho
That's the problem - you drive a Land Cruiser. if you drove a Land Rover you'd know the lights will fill with water either way round and probably stop working of their own accord before it becomes an issue :P

thats bull shit wat do u know bout 4x4 off roading????
GINGERDAVID90 3 years ago
You asked what I know about 4x4 offroading..
Well..
1) I know that driving into water with a hot spotlight makes them suck in water... It's caused by heat differential and vaccuum.
2) I have been offroad driving all my life, living in the outback of Australia.
3) I worked for the UN in Africa.
4) I have driven offroad 4x4 from Sydney to Svalbard.
Does that answer your question ?
Oh, and i drive and use a Landcruiser every day.... very reliable, and no oil leaks...
