Santana fan that I am I have to say this left me cold, Maybe if I had been there, Been to four of his shows. Three stunning, I walked out on one, At least this was not the Paul Shaffer bastardized version as in the Blues Brothers, My fave will always be Europa. And in four shows I never saw it live. Even a legend has a bad day. This was just not great.

Great live cover! As usual, CS honors the original groove and tune, making totally fucking timeless! Only Carlos can pull that off! I really didn't find the brassman tripping a BONUS(?). The guy blew his ass off and all he gets recognized for was something negative? He handled it with dignity, but no way, in my book, was it amusing. Thanks for the upload.
I've busted ass on stage before... that shit sucks bad! But at least he played his ass off, and it's not like the musicians don't understand. We are all guilty of it at one time or another...
@tamadw - Don't get wrong...I love Dennis's playing....but being a health nut and part-time smart azz....I could'nt resist the obvious....I hope he and you take the comment in the spirit is was given.....just funing a little.
Ever notice that out of all the guitar gods Carlos is the least likely of all to over dominate a song? I see him as THE MUSICIAN! That hombre and his band can put a smile on anyone's face that has a brain and a functional set of ears.
Well-said and right on! Glad to know some folks still know how to listen. Carlos has always been an ensemble player par excellence as well as a soulful soloist. With respect, this is what distinguishes Carlos and his generational guitarist peers from the post-Van Halen generation's virtuosic narcissism. Cheers!
I saw Santana and Jeff Beck on the same night. Beck Came on first and emphasized his smooth jazz based tunes. In doing that it paved the way perfectly for Santana's set. After Carlos and his crew finished their set Carlos brought Jeff on stage to play a tune together the tune they played was this /watch?v=SfcnIMZq6is
it was a great guitar duet by 2 masters that were not in competition..the following night they played a Santana tune together (I wish i could have seen that)

The trumpet player is Bill Ortiz, famed SF Bay Area musician. He's also my trumpet teacher and a wonderful man, as well as talented player.
