I've got a schnauzer mix I got from the pound! They say she's mixed with a blue heeler but it could be anything I suppose. She's the sweetest dog in the world. She looks a lot like your dogs in her face

You can register them as AKC. You can also show them in conformation shows in nearly every country but the US and Canada (you can only show them in rare breed conformation shows here in the states). The color is caused by the recessive e gene and thier are NO health issues related to this color.
@Miskeana White Minis are so cute. :) Yes I'm tired of black/silver mini owners saying that white isn't a real color and they aren't real minis. It's just not fair. I think they are one of the most beautiful ones, and it's cute because their white eyelashes make their eyes look so adorable. :)
@fruitikay I have an all-white mini schnauzer now, named Thumper. But growing up our mini schnauzer, Heidi, was blonde. Yes..... blonde. There are tons of photos to show it. So when we sent in her registration papers, AKC rejected them saying there was no such thing. So we had to get her extended pedigree, send photos, and a statement from our vet that was notarized, just for the AKC to acknowledge her. So, schnauzers being white, black, salt-n-pepper, blonde.... they're still amazing dogs!

They are beautiful and as I state to many, we have non-human children, with no desire for human ones. My husband and I have little patience for human children. Whatever floats ones boat.
Schnauzers originated in Bavaria but they are known as a German breed. Incredibly smart, fast and loving.
Love the breed and my husband and I have two of them.
White is actually not a rare color for Schnauzers. It is also prohibited for the Westminster Dog Show and it may be against AKC regulations for the color too.
In any case, I could care less about the color. Our puppies are our children. :)
Well it's rare in the sense that they are Hybrids, and black and grey are dominant genes for the schnauzer... white was not the original color for the original breeders until later...and it is also not a very common color from the place that i'm from. These two puppies were the only white ones in the litter and the only white ones that were for sale in the whole state.
@fruitikay I have raised Miniature Schnauzers and the "silver" does not refer to the coat color it refers to the furnishings when a schnauzer is called black and silver. I have found that as you machine clip a "salt and pepper" schnauzer its hair coat becomes more gray or silver but thats not what AKC is referring to.
@AVCvetek Also years ago I know that AKC would not register white ones, I know someone that bought one thinking it was AKC registered and had papers but the color did not reflect that it was white on their papers!
