Aria 2-Ave Maria

This is an interesting Ave Maria. It is not old - it was composed by Vladimir Vavilov, a 20th century instrumentalist and composer. He had a fondness for musical hoaxes and this is one of them - an aria he composed but attributed to Caccini, a 17th century Italian composer. Since then, even musicians who should know better have cited Caccini as the composer.

This is by far the best version of Ave Maria. I first heard this from a German (?) pair skaters performing at the Worlds 5+ years ago! I remember Peggy Fleming who was one of the US commentaries commented on the song.... not verbatim, and said "... nice performance, skating to Ave Maria. What a beautiful version of the song".
