M2TW - Swiss Guard VS Dismount Gothic Knights

i just got a mod that lets me get dismounted gothic knights in the campaign, along with all the units from the tuetonic expansion. its fucking amazing.

Actually the best dismounted melee unit in MTW 2 are the dismounted conquistadores. Try it yourselves. It is kinda weird though :-/

strongest melee confrontation ground unit vs other melee are the venetian heavy infantry, Hashashin, and Aventuros... why...

Hashashins have the greatest defence skill in the game which means they can dodge most attacks melee units provide to the,... and their attack is quite efficient...

Venetian Heavy infantry have a one hit kill war hammer(ap) and huge shields

portugese Aventuros although their stats don't compare to the othwer two per unit.. 1 unit attack 4 at a time per squad... spear wall

why isnt this unit (dismounted gothic knights) in Faust 1.3?

all i know is that swiss guard have armor piercing, so it's no surprise they cut through enemy heavy infantry.

I would have liked to see one of these guys (swiss guard or dismounted gothic knights) face dismoutned Christian guard. THOSE GUYS ARE AWESOME XD

Gothic (foot) knights are the best unit in medieval 1. But I don't know them on medieval 2.

I think the armor for the Uruk-Hai in Lord of the Rings was modeled after that of the Gothic Knights since they look almost identical (especially the helm)

Best cav is Tsar's Guard, best inf. is probably Venetian Heavy inf., best archers are probably the scots guard and best swordsmen wud probably me dismounted conquistadores, this game is quite balanced soooit doesn't always matter who has better troops

Best archers are Russia's Dismounted Dvor, best swordsmen could also be Hashashim from Islamic Assissins guild.

irelands muire unit is the strongest infantry in the kingdoms expansion, and probaly one of the strongest in thee game (if you get the mod which adds ireland to the main campaign (^^) )

@irelandrocks2 : nope, they are raped by Janissary heavi Infantry and the Venetian Heavy Infantri.

Both unit in halberds and war hammer could are 'the specialist' to chew down armored infantry units.

Try a unit of gothic knights against Janissary or venetian heavy infantry in a fair fight like this and you'll see them got ripped apart easily. Dont forget that the Venetian Heavy Infantry has 5 charge points - the highest charge point for infantry unit in this game.

Well, the gothic plate armour counts as the best european armour ever forged. ;)

Not by stability (there the "Milanese" armour is better. But by limitation of movement and the weight/protection balance.

That isnt catched historical correct in the game. BEcause they make the Gothic knights slow and cumbersome. Wich is exactly what they are NOT (by comparation to other plate armours of the same period)

And not only that. The use of the lanscknet two handed sword have no sense in this game. It was not a club. Also, the two handed sword were used in battle versus polearms, like halbreds. Probably, in the reality, the ghotic knigths wins.
