Where are you at in ottawa? I docked at the bridge coming into town on 23 and had no problem last year. It is completely crazy that they are that thick and that big within a year.

No one "put" them there. They got into the rivers when the Mississippi flooded back in the early 1990s allowing these fish in farm ponds to escape into our rivers. Since then the fish are the perfect breeding and eating machine and are dominating all other species. They are filter feeders - they have no stomachs - so every time they breath they feed on plankton. There is no stopping these fish as a result of their superior biological makeup & most local fish species are doomed.

@cowsywowsy evidently YOU don't know the river! They were under the Fox River bridge and going upstream from the bridge is ALL a NO WAKE zone, so I think you need to learn the river a bit more before you start bumping your gums about something that you are wrong about!
