hahah me and my family have a ps1, xbox 360 elite 4 ipod touches... 3g 8gb, 3g 64gb, 4g 32gb, 4g 8gb, ipod classic game cube ninendo 64 ninendo wii nintendo ds nintendo gameboy colour and the original xbox, and loads of really old plug in tv games. my ipod id the 4G 8Gb and i would recomend it defenatly and i play xbox and wii and i would recomend the xbox :)

PS4 and Xbox 720 will probably also come along in the following years.

how did you decipher wich "generation" they were, did you do the generations based on how powerful they were or something?

Yes, along those lines. When the processers and memory chips inside the console became more powerful and could hold more data more professional consoles were created. The first 'generation' excluding the arcade systems were all very primitive and could be classed easily. The second generation were slightly more evolved with more complex commands and processes happening inside the actual console. It is quite easy to tell the generations apart, especially now in the seventh one.

The fourth era for example can be classed because the consoles generally used 32-bit technology inside of them, the sixth era as well used 64-bit technology hence the Nintendo 64 being named accordingly. The seventh generation have all been sequels or an extra edition from a previous console design (e.g. the Playstation 3). The eighth generation will be when sony, microsoft and nintendo decide to create more consoles and they can easily counted as another generation from before. I hope I helped.

I know, i couldn't decide whether to write the dates for Japan, North America or Europe so ended up writing the earliest one most times. If I ever re-did this and added some more games e.g. Tekken or Spyro i'd probably write them all for Europe or Nrot America.
