Running the sequence backwards is confusing and I have never read Walter decribe such motion.
Just take the example of Na @ +1 and Cl @ -1 potential postions. The indicates these position are of similiar dimension. The electric potential of Cl is much higher than Na. Na on the red side of the spectrum is much denser than Cl which is on the blue side. These graphics look nice but does not accurately reflect anything Walter teaches.
