The PS3 works as the server when you are using the ad-hoc feature for PSP games that doesn´t have a dedicated server like FF Tactics, Monster Hunter, Dissidia FF, etc. Games like Socom, Metal Gear PO or PO+ don´t need to use the ad-hoc feature with the PS3 because they have their own servers. It´s a great feature if you have a PS3 and PSP and you wanna play ad-hoc games around the world.

Because the wireless feature of the PS3 is meant to act as the ad-hoc connection with the PS3, the PS3 needs to be connected to the internet wired because it will act as the server for the 2-4 PSPs.

I understand why the PS3 has to use a wired connection for this Ad Hoc, but I was still disapointed. Some people can't have the Ps3 wired, for example. People like me! I share my internet with my brother and it's in another room!

It's really frustrating, I thought I would finally be able to play MH unite with people.

Sure, no problem.

Okay, plug in your Ethernet Cable from your Router to your PS3.

Go into Connection Settings and their should be an option for Plug. [You'll need to play with that menu to find it, I honestly don't remember, it might be automatic]. When you finished that go to PSN and Download AdHoc. Install it, run it, and find a BBS room. Normally it's B4. Go into a House [In a BBS House Game], go to the Wi-Fi area on your PSP, and you should be done. o-o

It would be nice if Ad Hoc Party could be downloaded on the PSP. It only works with both PS3, and PSP. Maybe in the future a download could be for a computer so that I can connect a USB my computer, and wired connection would go, and pick up people.

at the moment you can only play monster hunter with people sitting next to you...........adhoc party basically makes the psp think those people are next to you even though their playing from far away.
