@philsearle123 dear philsearle, thank you for your comment, just i do not agree, ALLEGRO in times of haydn does not mean fast, only since the CDrecordings some conductors do it faster, because so you get 3 symphonies into 1 CD. would Haydn have notated allegro molto or allegro assai, it would be different. simply ALLEGRO is a tempo ordinario, that gives the smallest note its right to be heard. and is not much faster than andante.greetings
good, that you are a big fan of haydn, because it is great music. in the same concert of horta-camerata there was also the sinf nr 30 "alleluja" and the trumpetconcerto you find it on youtube
dear drohan, this version goes around 120. haydn has composed it in 4/4 not in alla breve 2/2. if you have heard it at double the speed, it might be a misunderstanding of haydns intentions
try to find a correct translation for lamentatione et passione, maybe it helps you to understand this version better.
listen also to the 2.movement adagio, which is the beautifullest part. greetings
it's way to slow. HELLO! It's Supposed to be Allegro, not Adante.

@varadouromusic The score is in fact marked Allegro Assai con spirito so it should be played very fast with spirit.

I just find it more actionful at higher speeds.

Very good point, the version on the AS level syllabus is most likely a misrepresentation of the original script.
I agree about movement 2, but i am a big fan of Haydn anyway...

It around twice this speed from my experience...

Gotta disagree here, I find this too slow.

This is too slow compared to the original speed

dear drohan 100, it would be interesting to know, what you consider the original speed greetings

The ascending semiquaver figure in the violin part just doesn't achieve its potential at this speed.
