after watching this video, i realized how important mines really are. on Honor(ps2 version of BF2) theres a samll bridge leading from the chinese base to flag 3. i set mines on the bridge far enough apart so that they wouldnt all detonate at once. i keep getting kill after kill after kill. my only problem was that my mines would all detonate b4 i could go get more.
mines aren't that bad, if you uses the mines like a real soldier, it's okay, but if you're a fucking noob puting mines on your enemy's base vehicles, just to not let them take it, it really sucks and it's pathetic

technically, this isn't REALLY a part of my RLBF2 series. It was made as a birthday gift for a friend of ours who, before BF2, used to put mines on all the vehicles during capture the flag. That way, when I took his flag, I would hop in the nearest vehicle to drive to the planes or back to my base, but they were all booby-trapped. He was really good with mines, and all the little bits of this video are re-enactments of crap this guy did to me. So... yeah. *shrugs*
oh, I see what you mean. That was a mod called Desert Combat. I played that probably more than I played original 1942. The guys that made that mod were eventually hired by DICE to help make BF2... but then they were fired.
Your character does something special with each weapon if you idle for too long. You balance the knife on your finger, you flip the grenade, you look at the c4, and you spin the mine.

It was made out of a metal pot, metal plate, and bottle cap stacked... then lots and lots of weathering!

You don't do anything and it does it automatically. Same thing with the knife, you'll flip it. Also does stuff with the guns too
