yes, it would. in fact, the minimum wage has proven to actually increase poverty and unemployment.
A better way to decrease poverty while decreasing unemployment is to expand the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Yeah, gas hit around $4/gal while the mini-wage stayed around $5/hr. WTF?
Dont get me started on healthcare, education, and taxes.
