the term 'Killer Whale' does not automatically mean that they kill humans, they generally eat fish, squid, small sharks etc...

first of all, the whale was playing. if it was intentionally trying to hurt/kill the trainer, it would have sooner. second, whales don't know the facts we do, and wouldn't bottle up anger for longer periods of time. this whale was probably born in captivity, though, so it wouldn't know it was taken from somewhere. I do believe whales are much smarter then we are.

Seaworld has rescued some animals that literally just LIVE there. They don't perform, and they are not out in the public for people to see. They just simply have them living the remainder of there life in a beautiful, safe environment that they created for them. Where they play, eat and rest to their hearts content. Instead of fighting to stay alive out in the wild, these animals who had already suffered and been rescued, are now living peacefully without a care in the world.
These whales/penguins/seals/dolphins, etc... all came VERY close to death before Seaworld came, saved them and gave them a second chance. If it was not for Seaworld these animals would be dead. They would have died painfully, or slowly from starvation. Also, just because you see them in a small tank or in a small enclosure outside, it doesnt mean that is where they live. Behind the scenes of Seaworld are HUGE areas for these animals. There are also animals backstage that don't perform at all.
@HeyItsMaureen not ALL animals at seaworld are rescued, it even says on its site. Captive killer whales have higher incidents of disease and a much reduced life span. They have complications with preganancy and their calves survival rate is lower. They also show more agression to humans and other whales, which is a sign of stress from the false social groupings, chemically altered water and small tanks. You cant build a tank big enough for them, wild killer whales travel 100 miles day
I worked for Seaworld Orlando for over a year. ALL of the animals in the park are rescued and live LONG WONDERFUL LIVES. Everyone thinks Seaworld goes out and snatches animals from the wild and puts them in a cage. NOT TRUE. SEAWORLD ARE ALWAYS CALLED FIRST WHEN BEACHED WHALES OR ANY SEA CREATURES WASH UP ON SHORE INJURED, TO HELP THEM! @Pledius I agree, Tilikum had a history of two prior events that Seaworld ignored, that and the trainer broke a rule that is observed by ALL trainers of dangerous animals...never ever turn your back on them even for a brief moment. People need to realize that this is NOT footage of the 2010 attack that resulted in the death of a trainer, this took place a few years back at a completely different SeaWorld Park (San Antonio). The whale in this video is Kyuquet, who at the time, was a maturing and thus very hormonal bull who obviously got agitated during his routine and began to push his trainer around. But if you look closely, you'll see that he never once bit the trainer or even opened his mouth. This trainer ended up fine.
God gave man power over every animal because of his superior brain and ability to love but not power to keep things captive, this is not love but comes from the evil one and this whale demonstrates he has no master when you take it from its natural enviroment. I feel bad for the trainer but worse for the whale.

I got talking to a person that worked with the trainers at the Shamu show at seaworld (Orlando) when I was there a week ago and she said that it was only a loose rumor floating around the park that something happened at the Shamu show, no one even knew what happened for sure until they got home and saw the news. They just acted like it was the end of the show and that was that. I applaud how professional their staff were.

first of all, the whale was playing. if it was intentionally trying to hurt/kill the trainer, it would have sooner. second, whales don't know the facts we do, and wouldn't bottle up anger for longer periods of time. this whale was probably born in captivity, though, so it wouldn't know it was taken from somewhere. I do believe whales are much smarter then we are.

Seaworld has rescued some animals that literally just LIVE there. They don't perform, and they are not out in the public for people to see. They just simply have them living the remainder of there life in a beautiful, safe environment that they created for them. Where they play, eat and rest to their hearts content. Instead of fighting to stay alive out in the wild, these animals who had already suffered and been rescued, are now living peacefully without a care in the world.

These whales/penguins/seals/dolphins, etc... all came VERY close to death before Seaworld came, saved them and gave them a second chance. If it was not for Seaworld these animals would be dead. They would have died painfully, or slowly from starvation. Also, just because you see them in a small tank or in a small enclosure outside, it doesnt mean that is where they live. Behind the scenes of Seaworld are HUGE areas for these animals. There are also animals backstage that don't perform at all.

They have complications with preganancy and their calves survival rate is lower. They also show more agression to humans and other whales, which is a sign of stress from the false social groupings, chemically altered water and small tanks. You cant build a tank big enough for them, wild killer whales travel 100 miles day

I worked for Seaworld Orlando for over a year. ALL of the animals in the park are rescued and live LONG WONDERFUL LIVES. Everyone thinks Seaworld goes out and snatches animals from the wild and puts them in a cage. NOT TRUE. SEAWORLD ARE ALWAYS CALLED FIRST WHEN BEACHED WHALES OR ANY SEA CREATURES WASH UP ON SHORE INJURED, TO HELP THEM! Any animal you have seen at Seaworld has been rescued from a life of having to struggle to survive in the ocean.

Whether or not they were born in captivity.....they have natural instincts that outweigh all the training they are given. You simply cannot contain an animal that large and expect them to never have the feeling of wanting to be free in the open waters. They will show aggression when they are agitated. I sure as hell would be to if I was containted in a large pool all the time. They should have released him into the wild after the first attack he commited. Why is anyone surprised he did it again.

@Pledius I agree, Tilikum had a history of two prior events that Seaworld ignored, that and the trainer broke a rule that is observed by ALL trainers of dangerous animals...never ever turn your back on them even for a brief moment. They get free food ALL THE TIME, they get cleaned, have their health constantly looked after, given loads of attention, they don't have to worry about territorial disputes or attacks from anything. They're living the easy life while the whale's in the wild are constantly fighting for survival, so think before you make assumptions.

People need to realize that this is NOT footage of the 2010 attack that resulted in the death of a trainer, this took place a few years back at a completely different SeaWorld Park (San Antonio). The whale in this video is Kyuquet, who at the time, was a maturing and thus very hormonal bull who obviously got agitated during his routine and began to push his trainer around. But if you look closely, you'll see that he never once bit the trainer or even opened his mouth. This trainer ended up fine.

I got talking to a person that worked with the trainers at the Shamu show at seaworld (Orlando) when I was there a week ago and she said that it was only a loose rumor floating around the park that something happened at the Shamu show, no one even knew what happened for sure until they got home and saw the news. They just acted like it was the end of the show and that was that. I applaud how professional their staff were.
