  • "The origin of martial arts in China has been traced all the way back to around 500 A.D., when Buddhist monks began practicing qigong, or energy cultivation techniques, which they found also greatly improved their physical strength. "

This is not quite accurate. According to B. Kumar Frantzis (a lineage holder in bagua, taiji and hsing i), Taoists have been circle walking for millenia.

  • Can I ask something? Why does this kung fu seem no different than karate or some sort. I thought kung fu was like jet li, jackie chan and all that shit?

  • @NinjaAssasination1 thats wushu

  • @NinjaAssasination1 Sanda kung fu was designed for combat. Nothing else. It's pretty much the simple stuff without the fluff.

Jet Li is an old school wushu champ and was defeating adult combatants at the age of 14.

Jackie Chan is a legend who's studied multiple different forms of Wushu and other forms of kung fu.

and Karate was taken from Kung fu. It's called "the art of striking", it's also why some japanese practitioners I have met call kung fu "the evasive fist"...that's questionable I say.

  • @Cha0sB1k3r karate doesnt mean "the art of striking", it means "the empty fist".

karate wasn't from kung fu, karate was made by combining the okinawan art of code-tei with the japanese jujutsu.

CODE-TEI, on the other hand, was influenced by (although not "taken from") kung fu

  • The camera work could have been much better.

It is hard to track skill when the camera jumps all over the place. What a shame.
