I am a migrant to Oz myself and Australia is a great place to live but these Indian students are not students really, they are mostly enrolled in dodgy TAFE courses and mostly work in lowly jobs in odd hours in mostly bad suburbs. Many of them are given overly idealized views of life in Oz as well. Its still a great place to live. Personally I do not know why they go to Melbourne, I hate that place myself, Sydney is far better.

Its amazing how Indian and Chinese student experiences contrast. Chinese have done a much better job at integrating into Australia. China is too cheap. All the 3rd world countries compete with cheap labour. This acts as a disincentive. One by one our industries closed down and moved operations off shore.

@karthikthomask I understand how China has a definite advantage. I think the government here isn't smart about boosting any manufacturing endeavour that circulates money into the economy.
I could easily see my industry boosted. Chinese would be a buyer. Half my customers are Asian. They are fussy and don't want impersonal, mass produced goods.
They need to think on a case by case basis but they need the structure for that, because most policy is about throwing money where it achieves nothing.

As nice as they are, all but a few of my customers think they're above me, and most of them are genuinely nice people that would hate think that about themselves.
If I quit down my stubborn desire to excel in quality and bought in my product, I'd elevate my status. How bad is that!!

Indians don't blend into the host country's culture. Indians try to act too smart. Indians move in groups/gangs. A sincere suggestion to my fellow Indian brothers/sisters is that you should try to live like an Australian while in Australia and should stop trying to get attention.

I am a migrant to Oz myself and Australia is a great place to live but these Indian students are not students really, they are mostly enrolled in dodgy TAFE courses and mostly work in lowly jobs in odd hours in mostly bad suburbs. Many of them are given overly idealized views of life in Oz as well. Its still a great place to live. Personally I do not know why they go to Melbourne, I hate that place myself, Sydney is far better.
