  • ..."Well, Climb back into that academic vagina!" LOL

  • Because if we were good at life, we wouldn't need more school!

  • i get that joke!

  • that's joey from Friends thing to say

  • @LikeMeCauseImCool how you doin

  • And if you go to grad school, you can study a field that gets little to no respect like Library and Information Science, just like me! :p

  • Where this collage at •-• ---- hes on drugs

  • holy fuck, this makes me want to go to college now! i'm gonna be so successful, just like these guys :D

  • 631 grad students

  • Grad school is also a hell of a lot cheaper than undergrad when u consider the financial assistance. I just got my first acceptance letter (haven't heard back from the other 4 schools I applied for) and was offered free tuition + a minimum of $5000 financial support, and a guaranteed TA position, which is a paid position. If I'm lucky, and I work my ass off in the summer, I might not have to take out a loan at all. This is not unusual if you have decent grades (Im in Canada, though).

  • ehhhh. top comments are too long to read.

  • lol that's a good bong not a cheep one i wonder were they got that good bong from

  • This video makes me feel good about myself.

  • After 5 years of teachers and peers shovelling their expectations onto my shoulders and down my throat. I've quit college. I feel free and carry no responsibility. I'm a little in debt, but fuck all this I'M GOING TO SPAIN.

  • @drawfourwild the country with some of the highest youth unemployment in the world? good luck

  • @unclejemima0 I've already ensured a job and that's the best part.

  • @drawfourwild why SPAIN?! its funny you say that cuz youre the 2nd person who said that to me?!

  • @positive0julian I'm going with a friend who has already been. My housemate used to live in Alicante and was a chef in many cities. From their stories the people are passionate and full of life. Ideally it's a lot more appealing than living here in Australia where people are too laid back and easygoing. This isn't to say I'm not going to venture out elsewhere, it's just a new beginning.

  • 1:18 snooki? O_O

  • Please, don't get an education so my phd is more valuable

  • my family shunned me and said i was a black sheep because my cousins were university students and i was just a community college drop out. now they're out of college and struggling with debt and trying to find a job. i'm in the military getting paid 1,800 a month with free health care and housing. feels pretty fucking good.

  • @suupersic wow i guess they should get signed up with a giant make-work program too

  • This has got to be one of the funniest smartest vids i've on youtube.

  • To anyone watching this in high school; don't go to college and focus on one thing as soon as you're out of school unless you're sure it's what you want to do. I wasted thousands of dollars on learning a few things from psychology (was going for chem teacher; loved the teaching portion, despised the courses).

  • Turn on CC and go to 0:13

  • 0:39 for a cool Jake and Amir Poster

  • @peatownrepersenative haha nice one :D, its ace and jocelyn

  • Check out my video thanks

  • FYI. I'm 21, I have 3,000$ saved, (from working part-time) and I just got more hours at work. Within 7 months, I'll hit 5 digits. And I live on my own.

I have no debt. Almost no responsibilities. I am free. My only actual worry is that the government will fuckup the economy so bad that my money will not be worth anything in the future. Besides that life is sweet.

This is not to say college is pointless, merely that it's not an absolute.

  • @UnknownXV

    That's cool man.

  • @UnknownXV TLDR

  • @UnknownXV Yep, I agree that there's more than one path to success if you make a sensible plan and stick to it. However, school isn't just about a paycheque. It's also about learning to look at life critically, and enlightening yourself. Even if I never work in my field, I have no regrets about going to college. I loved it, made great friends, and it completely changed my outlook. It sucks that it's so expensive that people feel the only way they can justify it is with a potential paycheque

  • @discord20 Absolutely. Formal education isn't horrible, but I would say that, mostly, it's not worth it given the current cost.

  • @UnknownXV If you're willing to work really hard.

Even if you have a degree you need to work hard to be successful but you have less trouble finding a decent job if you've attended a higher education institution.

    Happy for you nonetheless.

  • @Picjay77 That depends. Have you seen how many places will reject your application because you're "overqualified"? It's a bit ridiculous.

Again, I am not saying College is useless. Merely that one should carefully weigh all the variables. This includes where you live, or planning on where you'll move to, knowing exactly what job you want to get into, etc.. people don't seem to plan these things out. They just go to College, because it's expected of you.

  • @UnknownXV True....this is why I don't believe they should be offering student loans to kids who don't have jobs or any income of their own. If kids are broke, it would be much better for them to work in the real world for 3-5 year, build up their resources, see what's needed in the real world, and see where they fit in best, before going to university.

  • @UnknownXV

or you can go to college and make six figures in your first year.

  • @amoghthegamer No, no it doesn't work like that. Not for any field. College will help you get a better paying job, but nothing pays 6 figures right out of school.

  • @UnknownXV

go to any website to see starting salaries for investment banking. Even check up Monster or Dice and you will see it is 6 figures, if not, VERY, VERY High 5 figures!

  • @amoghthegamer You won't get into investment banking without experience, and if you do your salary won't be that good.

It's not that high salaries are impossible, it's just a pipe dream to have 6 figures right out of college. That just will not happen for 99% of people.

  • Climb back into that academic vagina!

  • Chances that nobody who made/acted in this video has a graduate degree: 100%

  • @Benjofresh they dont need a graduate degree.

  • absent minded intellectual.... lmao love it

  • loool in this world u do need a graduate degree to stay competitive in this society, bachelors degree doesnt really mean much today

  • Can someone explain this to me? in 0:30 the girl says "..47 I said? Lets aim for ten (?)" I dunno if she said ten, I couldn't hear her clearly but can someone explain this part for me please? :))

  • @redhotchiliincubus "let's aim for dead"

  • @redhotchiliincubus i think she said dead :?

  • @redhotchiliincubus she didnt say "ten" She says "..47 I said? Lets aim for dead"

  • the guy at the end is a BAWSSS

  • im guessing the large majority of the 1,467,610+ viewers so far have completely missed the point of the video

  • you need college to get a good job. enjoy

  • Business grad school is no joke...

  • This hits the nail on the head, except for the part about law school. Lawyers make a lot of money. Law school is not grad school, we don't study useless crap. Law school, med school, dentistry, grad school for sciences or engineering is something else entirely.

  • @BruceDism Some of us know better. Many lawyers are unemployed these days, its a saturated field, and many employed lawyers do not get rich.

  • @BruceDism law school is just as hard to get in...

    even harder

n dentists make more then a lawyer

considering the fact theres litterally NO way ull be abig time lawyer...

pay means nothing...ur just bias on your own experience on hearsays

  • College is overrated and overpriced. Luckily I know my place in this world as a peasant.

  • "Only assholes go to grad school."- Jack Donaghy ( and Liz Lemon)

  • Where is that reference from ?

  • @mihailo343 The 90's sitcom show "Friends". It's a line joey always uses.

  • Check this out: education.yahoo.net/articles/most_useless_degrees.htm

  • I think most people are missing the point of this video. A sense of humor is definitely needed to enjoy this video and see the real meaning behind it. It's not knocking individuals who want to better themselves and attain higher education to better their life. It's knocking individuals who go to college to only party and "do something" without actually setting achievable goals. They pick a degree that requires little work and is hardly usable when they graduate.

  • Also, my parents aren't paying for grad school: I'm going to have to work my ass off. Fuck off, collegehumor: don't ridicule the people who got into more than their safety schools XD.

  • Without grad school, no one could perform the surgery needed to remove arrows from knees.

  • @metallipwn Epic fail.

  • @0uchMyKnee Ah touche, failtroll.

  • I hate that people do this shit and I get yelled at for not wanting to go to college

  • Comment removed

  • To be fair, I feel like my critical thinking abilities have improved immensely.

As well, it is usually foolish to go to grad school if you're going into debt. I'm going to do my MA, but it'll be fully-funded. If I want to do a PhD after that, that'll be fully-funded too...

  • I never went to college and always regetted it, but when I think about it maybe it was for the best. Around 35% of people who go to college drop out by their third year, around 20% stay in college for over 5 years to basically postpone the real world, about 25% will end up working at mcdonalds or walmart after they graduate, and only about 20% actually graduate and get a career for what they went to college for in the first place. What do they all have in common? They have mountains of debt.

  • This video reminds me of interesting study. "A study of more than 2,300 undergraduates found 45 percent of students show no significant improvement in the key measures of critical thinking" "Overall, the picture doesn't brighten much over four years. After four years, 36 percent of students did not demonstrate significant improvement, compared to 45 percent after two"

Sad how we need piece paper to get some jobs ive gone college about 2 years can say haven't learned much.

  • jack and amir in the black round at 0:37

  • I love how the people commenting here think that everyone who doesn't go to college is hopelessly going no where. Even the people who graduated college are hoplessly going no where, except they're further in debt.

  • @puravida1024 You probably didn't go to college.

  • @puravida1024 I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

  • @puravida1024 You're fucking retarded.

  • @puravida1024 clapping. thank you.

  • hahah

  • how bout we quit whining about having to go in to debt to not go in to debt and actually change the system? Oh wait I'm on youtube, nevermind, just click through to the next video you lazy bastard you.

  • Yeah guys, college is really important today, but the additional value of a PhD/Master (i,e. grad school) what this video is about, is questionable.

Source: I'm in grad school ;-).

  • f***in glee 1:19

  • I LOL'ed hard at "absent-minded intellectuals". That was brilliant.

  • Yeesh. everyone is so literal. This is for entertainment you know.

  • hey I got that reference D:

  • the chick at 0:32 is hot

  • Weird. I'm a grad student who pays no tuition and gets a 15k stipend every year.

  • Thumbs up if you get the Joey reference from friends :D

  • this video? pssh, i dont even wanna go to college! i hate school

  • This video is exactly why i unsubscribed from college humor.... A bunch of d-bags that think they know exactly what real graduate life is.

  • @nmedeiros2007 umm... okay. Good bye, then. If you can't understand basic fucking humor about college life, then why were you subscribed to CollegeHumor?

  • I didn't know Friends references were considered outdated

  • neither is snooki

  • we dont have college her because where i live is really really small like really small that if you have a map its looks like a dot

  • i got the reference. :3

  • That's not grad school. That's grad school for liberal arts majors.

  • Black people don't play bluegrass; this is so fake.

  • HOW YOU DOING?!!! HAHHAHA

  • That reference was from Friends...I know and Im fourteen lol

  • It coulda been funnier!! I thought it was about students who have actually BEEN to grad school lol.. Only wen you've been in could u mock it in an accurate way lol

  • 0:31 i swear I know her from somewhere...

  • @OoskMgoosk she's in other CH vids too

  • god. ever since i started smoking weed i cant watch a single youtube video or do anything at all without it having at least one weed reference. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!!!

  • @slytherkatify Stop smoking marijuana then.

  • @MrVlogitron Personally i think it makes youtube funnier.

  • @MrVlogitron nah i dont wanna stop...

  • @slytherkatify Means your a loser who has to be high to get through his day. Pretty sad if you ask me.

  • There's no water in the bong.

  • you guys are arguing over a comedy video. That makes you all a bunch of fucking idiots.

  • I GET THE REFERENCE BRO.

    *HIGH FIVE*

  • this seem like heaven.

  • Profoundly informed video.

  • FRIENDS!

  • This is actually pretty close to how I feel while I'm in college. The way things are set up just aren't practical until you're interning and getting hands on experience... Until you're taking the knowledge and applying it to something tangible it's all for naught.

  • @PookieBearxD given the scope of the grammatical butchery in your post, i think you could use a good bit more knowledge before you try "applying it for all it's naught" anytime soon. for the safety and well being of us all. you don't say "while" to suggest something that you are already doing. it's "isn't", not "aren't" - that's a basic tense rule you should've learned before middle school. and "naught" means "nothing." the only thing naught is your last sentence, it' has no meaning.

  • @holdoncaulfield3 I hope you know you're pathetic. You have no idea who I am, so you pick at the smallest things to make yourself feel superior to me... Over the internet! WOW BIG MAN! -slow clap- (Well, to lay it on you strait-forward and honest,) you're not superior to me, or anyone for that matter, pal. By the way, your quotation wasn't what I said. AHA, You butchered my sentence yourself...You god damn Idiot. Go find someone else to project your misguided hate upon.

  • " the only thing naught is your last sentence, it' has no meaning." <--- THAT is a failure, just saying.

  • Oh yeah im 10 and I get it so what now!!!!

  • this ad reeks of embittered grad school rejectees. it's trendy to hate on graduate school because it's trendy to settle into a shit job, take no risks in your life, and pursue education for the sole purpose of employment. pretty big failure, collegehumor. your material is acted out and written by people so insecure about their BA that they have make a living out of ridiculing those who have exceeded them. with very few exceptions, this world is run by people with graduate degrees. get over it.

  • @holdoncaulfield3 .....SOMEone didn't get their bran muffin this morning....maybe you can grab one from starbucks on your way home

  • @holdoncaulfield3 We go to kindergarten to prepare for grade school which prepares us for middle school which gets you ready for high school so that you can prepare for college in which if all goes well gives you a certification to find employment. Thats the western educational system in a nutshell, genius. I have NEVER met anyone who went to college for the fun of learning. The people who run the world with their degrees only got them to actually "qualify" for those positions.

  • @MrMarcosdb except for all my friends studying masters of jazz performance......

  • The girl who is studying 3 lines of poetry is frickin' bomb! :D

  • Honesty:

it both explains the real world, and scares people sh*tless

  • I don't even want to be a lawyer! I'm in a bluegrass band! Rock on man.

  • Hey my retarded cousin went there!

  • "I get to spend the next 10 years of my life analyzing 3 lines of a poem that's over 500-years-old. In the real world, that would be considered a mental disorder."

    EXACTLY.

  • @Yohko86 oh yes. i forgot. the entire Western educational system that's been in place for centuries is POINTLESS! Oh, it's all so clear now! poetry and literature have been the foundation of our civilization for a few millenia, and without them our society as it is today, the way we exist and communicate that we do today - would simply not be - but who cares about that?! a bunch of lazy careerists have been through 4 years of education so now they have uncovered the Great Secret! f###ing genius!

  • @holdoncaulfield3 I never meant to imply that all subjects in grad school was 100% useless, but getting anymore than a minor in things like Creative Writing or English (unless your planning making a career out of teaching it) is a waste of time to me. I've met some people just like this in this parody, and I strongly believe there's a difference between an intellectual pursuit and actually being hireable.

  • The truth!!! It BURRRRRRNS!!!!!

  • If you go to college just to get a job, you have a pretty sad life.

  • @nts4906 I have such doubts, my friend (reference: Meryl Streep from The Doubt)

  • @nts4906 what? O.o

  • @Xentozz That fact that your so shocked by my statement speaks volumes about American education and the capitalist regime. Please, think about it.

  • Comment removed

  • @nts4906 Why is America the centre of everything these days? -.-' retarded world.

  • @nts4906 What? You enjoy studying?

  • @victoneter , you are studying in college what you will be doing for the rest of your life, so if you don't enjoy it, then you will not enjoy your career. I do enjoy studying my major, a lot actually. If I did not I would not be majoring in it, and would not be wholly looking forward to spending the rest of my life practicing it. So many people go to college because they think it is what is expected of them, don't enjoy what they study, and end up hating their job.

  • @nts4906 I don't consider my education fun, but I do think it's very interesting. Still school is not a very efficient way to gain knowledge and lots of things are required while you don't want them.

  • @nts4906 i know right. why learn more things wen burger flippin is so easy

  • @nts4906 And whys that? Thats the point of college. If you go just to party then you have a sad life. Must suck that the only way for you to make friends and have fun is to be drunk to the point your not even yourself.

  • @Entriken133 ?? You should go to college because you actually want to learn and have passion for what you study. I love my major and love studying it. If you go to college just to get a job you will not enjoy your studies and you will not enjoy the job you get because of those studies.

  • @nts4906 Again people go to college so they can use there major to get the job they really want. I mean if you enjoy spending tens of thousands of dollars just to study a major that you dont plan to use for a job then go for it. Most people that go to college to get the job they want and so they do love their major. I love mine, im going into the field of history because its been my passion since ive been little.

  • @Entriken133 So you agree with me. Smh.

  • @nts4906 Well there are a lot of pple with sad lives

  • @nts4906 says the 35 year old mongoloid still living jobless with his parents. Fool.

  • @Theboxr I will be receiving my PHD next year in philosophy. It also happens to be one of the least economically beneficial professions possible. While you chose to go to college and get a job just for money and greed, I've spent the last seven years of my life studying what I have an insatiable passion for. You feel like you have some obligation to work, while I will never have to truly work a day in my life. Would you still work if you weren't getting payed? I would.

  • @nts4906 How are you paying for this education you calim to be receiving?

  • @nts4906 PhD in Philosophy ? hahahaha get real

  • @enforceOM PhD means Philosophy Doctrine. Philosophy is such a misunderstood word.

  • @nts4906 You assume much for pursuing a profession that is inherently for the open minded. Perhaps next time, before you immediately point fingers at me, saying that my only motive is greed (although I confess, this does seem a little hypocritical in reference to my former comment), you may want to understand my point better. Regardless, I have a feeling your insatiable passion will soon turn into an insatiable hunger of a completely different kind. What with your amazing "jobless" income.

  • @nts4906 I agree with you, you should do what you think you will enjoy the most. But there comes a limit. Like, me, I'm going to graduate highschool soon and go to college to be a vet. I like what I am going into but it will also be benificial.

  • @nts4906 that is by far one of the stupidest things ive ever heard. do you plan to just be homeless, or live with your parents till they die?

  • @nts4906 you're obviously still in college :P

  • @nts4906 Well considering most decent jobs out there you need a college degree to even attempt to be hired by the employers... How else are you going to get a job?

  • @silpudog80 By having talent? Or some other kind of creative ability.

Not everybody wants to kiss ass their whole lives. xD

  • @silpudog80 Obviously you didn't go to College. A 4-year BS degree is an undergraduate degree. This spoof is about people that graduate college and go back for their Masters or PhD because they are too afraid to face the real world.

  • @darkopz Actually, I'm only 16, I haven't even finished school yet, and to work in the Gaming industry which is what I want to do, you need a degree to even do the basic stuff. You really should think before you type, And I was replying to someone who said college is pointless, I get the joke. (Wow I sound like the I'm 12 and what is this meme ...)

  • @darkopz Wait, 4 years? In the UK we only do 3 years. Considering that there is an international standard for degrees, how coould it takes you guys a year longer?

  • @LankyGeorge some courses in the UK are 4 year courses as well. i think they differ from university to university as well.

  • @LankyGeorge

because two of those four years are spent on general education classes that have nothing to do with your degree, the other two are hardcore years that have everything to do with your degree. You take 15 credits per semester, and most programs require 125 credits.....

  • @darkopz

well I am a graduate student and I find this hilarious, and sadly I gotta do grad school but I am doing it with peace corps so it isn't too bad. though people have told me on youtube that peace corp is for wimps and isn't the real world. Then their jaws drop when they see my resume. I worked for a yr before going back to grad school. Nothing wrong with extra education if you're in the position to do it. I say do it. real world as americans put it is overrated

  • @nts4906 Philosophy is something you can pursue in your own free time and through life experiences. One can be a qualified medical doctor and still know plenty about the works of various philosophers. Knowledge can be attained anywhere and any time. College is for getting qualifications.
