Just imagine the teachers surprise when she opens the box and there is a fox. Then she's going to believe in the fox, but it will be too late. The fox will by then be out the box.
I can prove God is REAL Mr. Randi. I found the True Location of the Garden of Eden. I found where God left His WATERMARK of it. Make sure you contact me to give me that million.
Reminds me of all the empty boxes the police get called in to investigate for a possible bomb. Or the suspicious white powder found in an ally behind a bakery.
I'm beginning to wonder if we really did put men on the moon considering our gullible we are. "We need large landing pads to float on the cheese". "Bring a gun to the moon in case the man living in it gives us a hard time"...
We're becoming a militarized culture without the benefit of backlash-experiences that instruct the opposite. Bad times are ahead; the kids have been allowed to play with danger.
Still, I don't know whether or not God exists. I won't assume I know that until I die. If, then, God doesn't exist, I will keep on not-knowing, because I will be dead. If God exists, perhaps I will ask God for a complete Shakespeare with better notes and yellowing pages.
This reminds me of the many nights that followed after watching "The Sixth Sense" movie. I don't believe in ghosts one bit, but having let my imagination run wild I was suddenly wary to walk down my own hallway at night. Watching serial killer documentaries lately had made me suspicious about the safety of my house. I'm certain this is how religious superstition begins, and is reinforced by church members and elders (who are also "brainwashed" to believe).
If John Stossel actually had caught fire, that would have made this special all the more amazing. Curse you, principles of heat convection and transfer! (shakes fist)
maybe putting all that santa bull and easter bunny in their heads when they are young encouraging believing in stupid crap.
I still have a vivid memory from when I was 5 when I saw santa in my room christmas eve. I know he wasn't and I know he doesn't exist but it just goes to show the lasting impressions that feeding our kids BS leaves.
@Berelore Perhaps. Telling kids that Santa is real is no different than telling them God is real. They're told that if they're not good Santa won't bring them presents. Likewise, we tell them that if they're not good they'll go to hell.
@NatureOfAscent "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness." Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due.
@NatureOfAscent And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works: "Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;
8blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin."
To anyone who reads these messeges, could you please tell mr. randi that I've been waiting for a response. it's time for me to put a stop in all this nonsense about fake psychics. I'm real and I know of and elder who came before me and he is real too. I am impervious to illness and I say that If You want the proof, it's right here trying to slap you in the face for ignoring it. I'm willing to bet my life against his Million, in my opinion the stakes couldn't be higher.
I'm not lying to my kids about a single thing. They will know from a young age that everything their fellow classmates believe in is false but to respect their beliefs and not to question them.
@NatureOfAscent I was talking about things like Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny. I'm not going to lie to my kids like most parents, but I'm also not going to have my kids piss off other parents by telling their kids those things aren't real. As for God, they'll figure out it's imaginary on their own.
@videosfromderelix "Not everyone believes in a god just because they were told to believe" you're right, but an overwhelming majority of people believe in a god because they were told to when they were young. The best proof of this is that the no 1 predictor of religious belief is geography.
Societies which do not believe in god don't have kids who believe in god. It's quite simple really.
@simsi1616 Except it's not. My parents believe that christ was the only son of god that an all knowing being (their god) sent down to a speck of dust called earth in the form of an evolved hairless monkey (my words, not theirs) but I'm not really convinced that there is a god. I believe that there could be one, and it seems logical to me but I have no specific religion. The specifics are just silly stories meant to dance around the truth, like an alan moore graphic novel.
@videosfromderelix please read my comment again: the NUMBER ONE predictor of religious belief is geography". Plain and simple. Now, I'll concede that there are always exceptions, but scientists have demonstrated that the younger and more viogrously a child is indoctrinated into a certain belief, the harder it is for that individual to alter their beliefs later on.
@simsi1616 How could there be that many exceptions? Do you have any proof of this because pretty much everyone I know that was brought up in a strict religious home has left that religion. Is this "study" your talking about something that was done many generations ago? Or was there even a study at all? Seems like your just saying "scientists believe this" and not quoting any specifics, just making up your own "facts"
@Mauhadeeb28 plus it was probably them doing what they thought they were supposed to do, pretend there was an animal in the box. Of course people think kids are so stupid that they must really believe there is a fox in there.

Why? Why? Really why?
Why is it okay for kids to believe in lies? Because its cute?
Because when we recall believing in something stupid as a kid, we feel all warm and fuzzy inside?
Or because parents through generations have embraced this stupidity, so that they dont have to question their religious faith too?
How come, whenever I utter that I think santa is a plain bad idea, Im accused of hating xmas, joy, innocence, childhood and everything good?
When all I really hate is lying to children.

Unless Chris Hansen was the host instead of John Stossel.
