What constitutes a "native" language? Irish is supposed to be my native language but like about 99.5% of the native born population in Ireland, I uttered my first words in English, I think in English and I'm so confused!!!!!.
I wish the contestants would still sing in their native languages. I would watch the "Eurovision Song Contest" but as they mostly sing only English, it is not interesting and they should rename it to "Amerivision Song Contest"
:D I've never heard real Irish Gaelic before :D ... ofc i dont understand a word :) but the song is so nice ^^ :..the singer looks very happy :))) .............. Greets from Austria to beautiful Ireland :***
Little did we know the British government was going to massacre 14 innocent people walking down a street in Derby, while this woman sung a joyous song.

IRELAND - Start performing your future entries in GAELIC ...........
You´ve already failed 3 or 4 times qualifying for THE GRAND FINAL since 2004 , singing in English doesn´t necessarily mean VICTORY !!!
France & Ireland had the same problem that year, they both entered top quality melodies that would have won a few years earlier but they found themselves out of step with the judges preferring big ballads or hippy-vibe uptempo numbers. Shame, because it's a gorgeous tune & I wish Ireland would sing in gaelic again.
I'm sorry but more should have been made of the ending... there's no point throwing your hands up like Jesus and then reversing hastily to let the orchestra do all the work.
Lovely singer and a wonderfully talented girl. But the song really let her down. If you think about 1972, "Nur die liebe lest uns leben" and "Apres toi" were far more in the vein of popular music. This sounds like a regurgitated showband ballad from 1962 not 1972.
Have never seen this on Eurovision (born in 1980 you see ;) ) and hadn't heard it until now... when can we get a Gaelige entry from Ireland again? Love it!
I vaguely recall this - was rather young when it came out. Great song - lovely to hear it again after all these years. Pity indeed that no other entry was in Irish after that: they might have figured they'd have gotten more points had it been i mBearla (English). Figure hugging dress was indeed a tad risque for the time - but Ireland had its share of mini skirts as well, catholic hierarchy notwithstanding.
WOW, what a brilliant song, you can tell by her face how much pride she has singing this song in Gaelic.
Such a shame that this song was not as appreciative as it would be nowadays.
Having said that, there is a slight ringing similarity to Gigliola Cinquetti Non ho l'eta ......

T. I have a theory. In A former life Mr. Scotland was a Cromwell henchman who when traversing Ireland on an evil Cromwellian mission was acosted and systematically piked to death by Jacobites and thus relives that in life after life in perpetual torment seeing Irish conspiracies everywhere.

ESCsince1968 - Just like my "Irish consiracies" bore u to death so does ur historical bent on anything & everything. For you to believe there is no substantial anti-british/english sentiment among ur population is frankly unbelievable. Continue to bury ur head Mr Ostrich - I certainly wont bother u again
Thanks lovely T for posting this video clip and your delightful commentary. The quality of this is so much better than those previous. The musicality of the lyrics in Irish aren't as well conveyed in English. I the 72 NF rehearsal the song was song was so far ahead in the trial vote that the producer stopped it saying it would be a shame if it didnt win - but it did - convincingly. Glad you like it.

Cloisim an tiún, is tú mo rún, sin ceol an ghrá
Listen, listen, I hear it again, the music of love

Éist leis an túin, is tú mo rún, sin ceol an ghrá

This comment has received too many negative votes show
ESCsince1968 - Just like my "Irish consiracies" bore u to death so does ur historical bent on anything & everything.
