  • Anyone know what the Asian girl thinks at around 02:00 , that it makes him smile?

  • @EarOrgasm hi. It's a russian translation of the movie. In English it's roughly as follows: "It's good that I came here. I'm listening, but cannot hear, it's like somebody has come from heaven to embrace us all". He smiles because by the plot he is indeed an angel.

  • @dachevashe actually, the real translation according to imdb would be: "I'm glad I came here. I don't hear everything. The people aren't watching. Maybe Heaven is watching."

  • @piknici Maybe, I just translated the russian translation (from this particular youtube video), so it could be different from the original one. Thanks for making me hear this song another time :)

  • @dachevashe oh. wasn't awear of that... anyway, you're wellcome! (this comment is here just to make you listen to it once again! ;) enjoy!

  • Wonderful movie, one of the best ever, with a great band

  • Wonderful movie, one of the best ever, with a great band.

  • Excellent groupe pschédélique des années 85 !

  • It would be great if someone could overdub this with a decent quality soundtrack!

  • Oh, Rowland.

  • What a great scene! The angel who follow the woman he loves! She's so gracious when she dances! what a beautiful woman she was....Sloveig, on 2007 have certainely joined the angels now...

  • Hauntingly beautifull performance by this jewel of a lineup, despite the movie's characters intruding on the perfect visuals. Rowland looks like he's stalked in right off the set of Les Enfants du Paradis.

  • you can dance - i love you

  • @lutheringram

hmm..the only ones that cant dance or act are those that are dead!

this shot is just pure magic!

  • Wonderful, wonderful scene!

  • Bruno Ganz, Solveig Dommartin, and Rowland - could there have been more beauty in one room?

  • Continued:

Frankly, the whole scene back then was about how many shoes you could step on, how much heroin you could use without overdosing, which prestigious University you went to, how fluent your German is or was and last but not least how influential negative charisma was.

HATE. Was also a big factor of being in that scene.

  • Ask yourself these questions.

    1. Do or did you like Crime because they were fashionable back in the late 80s and early 90s?

    2. Was it acceptable to be a W. Wenders fan because living in Berlin is cool?

    3. Because you could relate to the pathos due to your herion addiction?

    4. Have you changed your ways now and pursue health interests like New Age medicine and Yoga?

  • Not sure to whom you wrote that but no, no, no and no.

I loved them because they had some desolate longing to their sound. They also reminded me of Tracy Pew who was, to my ears, one of the greatest bassist to have played rock (or whatever genre one chooses to call it.)

Pathos schmathos. Good music is good music and good film is good film.

Far's I'm concerned, this was Wenders' last great film.

  • @Dubiousjohnny I've asked myself all the suggested questions, and my answer to all of them is N/A. I first heard this song (and saw the incredible performance) when I watched "Wings of Desire." Crazy about that movie. And that song. And the writhing of—I presume—front man Rowland S. Howard.

  • god! rowland kicks so much ass, his way of playing guitar was unique and so inspiring, i miss him ):

  • Starting to really think this man was part God in flesh form. Uncanny that I wrote this film down specifically to get out on New Year's Eve before I found out about his death. I am adamant that angels do indeed exist. Novogodnee Rowland.

  • My favourite song of Crime, and whenever i hear it now and see this video, I kind of shiver. Will miss your riffs Rowland. Fucking diseases... First Solveig Dommartin (the dancing girl) and now this fantastic guitarist.

    Life sucks when it stops

  • Rowland, Rest in Peace.

  • mistyczna muzyka, klimat filmu... Treść, przekaz filmu b. mi bliski....

szkoda ze nie ma PL tłumaczenia i ze tak mało fragmentów...

  • There's a couple angels in this scene but Rowland S. Howard is God.

  • You meant Nick Cave, I presume :) No, it's not him, it's Simon Bonney, the only original member in all the band's incarnations. He often drew comparisons to Cave and the bad Seeds. Amazing band regardless. Got to see them years ago in a small club and was blown away.

  • Epic Soundtrack!

  • Perhaps not in the band at the time Wing Of Desire was on. But wrote the best song ever: Rose Blue!

  • Why is it awesome?

  • Ironically, it took a German director to introduce me to a band close to home... go figure.

Nick Cave is teh awesome *hearts*

  • Nick Cave isn't even in this video.

  • THIS scene is Crime and the City Solution- fronted by Simon Bonney. The Bad Seeds do have a scene with an awesome performance, but this is not it.

  • Hahaa you're right my bad. I'd been watching a Nick Cave scene from the movie also and didn't check properly what clip I was actually commenting on. Nevertheless, it was this movie that intro-ed me to NCATBS, and I loved it.

  • This movie also introduced me to NC&TBS, I'm very grateful for it. :D but it also intro'd me to Crime & The City Solution who're also very good, I'd recommend looking into more of their work.

The Bad Seeds clip used to be up here on youtube - but it was taken down unfortunately. :(

  • Thanks for the reco. They sound fantastic!

A good thing you told me about the clip being taken down, I was about to start an epic search for it XD

  • In other news I love how there is always someone on YouTube to point out those little commeting errors - lol I could have been worse and went on and on about his charisma in the video etc ... the shame~!

  • Her comment was for Great Justice, now stfu and learn you something.

  • I actually didn't mean any offense. I wouldn't have realised my error unless it was pointed out to me. I'm just happy I didn't bleat on in my original comment lol. All good.

  • angels walk among us.....

  • the most profoundly beautiful move i have ever seen...

  • What's the name of the album who content this song ?

  • Nick Cave wrote songs specially for the movie.

  • What ? It's Nick Cave who wrote this song ? But it's isn't his band..

  • You can find this song on:

Crime & The City Solution - Room of Lights

Hard to find in the stores, check ebay, some people have their copies for sale!

  • Yes thanks, I've orderd it on Amazon :-)

  • Nick Cave didn't wrote this song. Rowland S Howard and Simon Bonney did. The band is called Crime and the City Solution.

  • It seemed to me well, thanks

  • For those of you that haven't seen the movie, it's one of those that actually gets better when you see it several times. It leaves a warm feeling inside you and makes you smile with it's dark humor.

A beautiful piece and a classic.

  • City of Angels is poor compared to this master piece. Soulful movie.

  • there's no comparison, this movie is so much more awesome

  • Yes.

  • City of Angels is crap!

  • One of the coolest moments in cinema history. That scene touched my life forever when I first saw it...

  • Solveig Dommartin, she was beutiful, I love her for ever!

  • Does anyone know whether the rest of the album was this good?

And has anyone ever made a movie better than WoD? If so, I'd like to see it.

  • The rest of the album as well as everything by this wonderful band is awesome.

  • Thanks. I should save myself some trouble and get everything ever recorded by Cave, Einsturzende, and all their buddies.

  • Well, I don't think anything else quite matches the timeless amazingness of this song, but a lot of it comes close.

  • Anyone have the full lyrics?

  • I have watched this movie 19 years ago.One of the best scenes that I can't forget it forever! Thank you LaZarevaaZa.

  • Just seen this movie. Great moment in the film

  • This is where it started

The trucks, the trees and her six bells

Now baby's going to look back home

    I'm wearing my clean clothes

Yeah, I still got the ones you gave me

You've been treading some unsafe ground

    And baby looks tired tonight

Out amongst the pikes and narrow streets

  • Six Bells Chime, such a wonderful song

  • this is a great film...great. This puts City of Angels to shame.

  • city of angels, what is that?, hahahha

  • favorite scene.

  • Sorry, but - it´s "Crime & the City Solution"!

  • wow
