I love watching nature and man working hand in hand, but how can anyone suggest a BC as a pet? This video shows a BC as it should be, active, working, using its brain developed by man, for man, stuck in a back garden / yard / house is asking for trouble ....
Could it be that what appears to be a dog "hard at work" in human terms, is actually a dog "having fun?" That fun in itself is beneficial to humanity and quite enjoyable to the dog itself? A wonderful "symbiotic" relationship! 8-)
Someone actually told me once that the best way to reward a BC is to let them 'work' more. Having owned one while I was growing up, I totally believe this. And yes, BCs make wonderful pets because of that relationship.

Yes Scott, that sums up the relationship.
In this National trial we see the top dogs and handlers in England competing to represent their country in the Internationals.
It's all about the working relationship of shepherd and dog. They all do it because they enjoy it - certainly not for the wages!
Its a lifestyle, a whole way of life - and the most rewarding human/dog relationship you are ever likely to get!
These folk are proud of their dogs and their work - quite rightly so.
