You just recognize it because you've most likely have never had voice lessons. She's not copying. Using the hand is a technique. Some use the hand or some lean in, some use the neck. Watch most of your favorite singers and this will be the case. I've already said it helps with going up and down the key.... Really. SMH

If you watch Wanya Morris of Boyz2Men you will see his signature is using the head movement, some press the stomach area and so forth. do you know what I miss, Leona singing in a higher key like this, It really reminds me of old school divas, I've noticed a lot of the songs she sings are like at a "normal" level and she goes higher for some notes, particularly when ad libbing. It's true that Leona still hasn't shown off her full vocal range since winning the X Factor, she's shown off a lot of it but there's still some notes she's held back on and I never understood why. The only reason I can think is because it obviously must be very hard and strenuous on your voice to use your full vocal range all the time and so she's toned her vocals down to preserve her voice in the long run. Look what happened to Mariah. Fantastic but overused her vocals sadly.
