  • this video is very funny even though i disagree with most of it

  • The movierights should've been seized from him in the late 90's for his own good, and for the sake of film history. Possibly I'd allow him to do non starwars-related clay animation, that's it.

  • I know the prequels were bad, but wow! but wishing him death , that's cold!

  • @lummox67 Nowhere here does anyone wish death on him. A point is made about how the prequels ruined his reputation and that point is made by saying that "If" he had died after the first trilogy, his would have been forever considered a genius. That's extremely different to wishing him dead. And besides, it's all meant as a joke!!!! The description tell you right away: "mockumentary". Get a sense of humor people.

  • @3dnextstage You criticize the documentary for only bringing up public reception of the films as evidence that they suck. Yet, all your arguments defending them are based on YOUR opinions. So, it is wrong for ME to bring up mass opinions, but it's perfectly ok to judge the movies based on YOUR sole opinion. You are 16 years old (according to your profile), so this narcissistic view of your self importance is likely due to you still not discovering that the world doesn't revolve around you.

  • @greenbeaverfilms Th difference is, I mentioned my opinion, to then sdupport it with arguments. You are now again claiming the majorit is what matterss, burt no it is about arguments, which I did use and u didn`t. I didn`t just mwention my opinion, I analyseed the film. I just real and sophisticated arguments, nott hjust that many people agree with me, so it was mmore than m opinion, it were my arguments.

  • @justjokingguy or should I say @3dnextstage or do you prefer @reviewreviewer1(LMAO) Did you not read my post? Your arguments ARE your opinions as well?!?

So "you don't need to be a professional writer" to judge writing in film, but then you demand that I make "1 great film" before I can criticize George Lucas. WTF? Yeah, I guess that logic makes sense to 16 year olds. Go ahead, keep making different profiles just to post here. LOL

  • @greenbeaverfilms No the wotrld doesn`t evolve around me, but films are upposed to e good not mas appealing. I don`t just say they are great because I like them, I analyse the film itself nd have argumentsm, that s wa judging a film requires.

  • @MrWhiteflags, or 3dnextstage, or MrWhiteflags, or ustjokingguy, or 3dnextstage, or eviewreviewer1, how do you say "stalker" in the Netherlands? If you are going to go to all the trouble of creating multiple accounts to post comments on my video, could you at least bother yourself with a few English lessons? I'm just saying, I don't know how they say "pathetic" in your language, but basically, that's what your English skills are.

  • @greenbeaverfilms Oke I will ty to spell better, but please let`s stop being hostile, you also promised me if I treated you politly we`d talk so let`s talk, oke??? My problem with your documentarry i that 1. why are you mocking and hating someone who never anything evil you just don`t like some of his new work, 2. why would someone who made many great films be a bad filmmaker cause he isn`t perfect, making mistakes isn`t being bad, you say yourself he did a lot of good.

  • Star Wars is one series. End of. No "new" or "old" about t. They are all classics. I love it all.

  • "Greedy Fat Bastard"

made me laugh because I wasn't expecting that in a "documentary"

  • @greenbeaverfilms Your just the kind of guy that doesn`t like new things, I personally lve the new Simpsons and I find this a cheap response.

  • @reviewreviewer1 The real cheap response is saying a blanket statement like "your just the kind of guy that doesn't like new things". I said it before, I like Lord of the Rings and I just said I like Family Guy. The real cheap response is also mentioning the Simpson's homage in the firs place when, as I stated, I was talking about homages thirty years down the road.

  • @greenbeaverfilms people tell me i suck because i prefer the orginial versions of the orginial trilogy and new star wars fans tell me hayden christian is better than mark hamill they even say ewan mcgeror is better than alec guiness

  • @thrashmetal4life515 I think Ewan McGregor would be the first one to say that's not true.

  • well with money and the possiblilities his principles of filmmaking changed and he did sth different. i only wished he stated that directly in an interview so that morons like the makers of this clip would stop pointing out the obvious..

yes, he likes to surround himself with the right people but that alone was NOT the key to his success cause every artist and filmmaker has to do that! who can produce a film alone? it's pure talent that made him stand out as a young filmmaker!!

  • @LHondrums You wished he openly stated in interviews that he was now only interesting in making movies purely for the money? Wow, and who is the moron? LOL

  • LMFAO THE NEW STAR WARS MOVIES ARE FUCKING AMAZING THE OLD ONES ARE OK BUT NOT EVEN CLOSE I FALL ASLEEP WATCHING THEM ANY ONE WHO WILL TELL YOU THE OLD ONES ARE BETTER IS A NOSTALGIC ASS HOLE

  • @Mohagrus You are so right, that Jar Jar Binks was hilarious, the sea monster chase will set the standard for movies to come, and Jake Lloyd was amazing. LOL Name me one line from any of the prequels that will still be quoted and talked about 30 years from now? I didn't think so. Go to any toy store and visit the Star Wars section and tell me why is it that most of the toys are from the first threelogy and not the most current one?

  • Before the questions I wanted to say, that is if my own eyes don't deceive me Mr. Morimoto looks pretty fat to me! Still its funny to see a fat bastard like Dan Morimoto calling George Lucas a fat guy who over eats. Also if your main point maker is a guy who is fat and has a double chin why would you have a problem with George being just like Mr. Morimoto? Or is that a triple chin on Mr. Morimoto? Just asking....but still good luck with more of these....whatever they are!

  • First off I would like to say I am a Star Wars fan and found this a little funny! Although its very easy to see you guys are not fans and have a very class half empty view on Georges place on the movie scene and on movie history. However I do have a few questions. If you don't mind answering that is?

  • These bitches are just mad because George Lucas has actually done something with his life instead of sitting around a computer and making stupid ass mockumentaries that no one really cares about....and who cares if he and his kids were in the movies its his movie dumb asses

  • @Iamtehawesome66 I guess sitting around a computer making "stupid ass mockumentaries that no one really cares about" is MUCH worst than sitting around a computer WATCHING "stupid ass mockumentaries that no one cares about", right? LOL

  • @greenbeaverfilms Hey how bout this.. You don't know if a video is a piece of shit waste of time unless you actually WATCH it.. Perhaps? BTW this is a piece of shit waste of time. I'm no star wars geek but did enjoy the first films especially when i was a kid. This is nothing but jealous bullshit. and the only reason i took the time to write this is because i dislike petty jealous people who do nothing but whine about other people's success.

  • @temite80 you think this is "a piece of shit"? Nothing wrong with that, in this country we are allowed to not like something and to say so. However, if this is a piece of shit, why did you not only make it a "favorite" but also made it the front video in your channel? And I would still like someone to explain to me why is it that you can't criticize something just because it's "successful" and made money? Under that ridiculous criteria, we should all love the High School Musical series.

  • @greenbeaverfilms I favorited it so i can find it easily to see any replies from you. don't worry it won't be there for long. don't know why it's front video, i guess that happened automatically. i like how americans like the phrase "in this country" as if the US is the only democratic country. there are several nowadays. the rest of the world is not just Iran or North Korea. Sure you can criticize. In fact i agree with alot of your points. just don't like all the hate around. love -temite.

  • @temite80 You do know that you can be notified of replies? This is not rocket science. And believe me, I'm not worried. I generally get positive comments on my other videos, it just so happens that on this video I managed to offend what many nerds and geeks consider a sacred cow. I use "in this country" because I'm not originally from here, I've been to many countries, this is the freest society I have seen, so based on your outrage at my freedom of expression, you need to be reminded of that.

  • @greenbeaverfilms freedom bla bla bla. bullshit. freedom to choose between wendy's and macdonalds. if anything its the most brainwashed society. wake up. if i were a geek i would probably know alot more about all the little buttons in the gui. even make some fake documentary videos.

  • @temite80 Yeah, sorry if we are not as enlightened and open minded as Greece. Good luck with your economy and riots.

  • @temite80 I love watching guys from other countries who get on youtube and bash America. If you hate America so much, then stop going on Youtube, it's an American invention!!!! It makes money for Americans!!! Why don't you go to a Greek website that only 500 people visit and post your opinions there.

  • @temite80

"freedom bla bla bla. bullshit. freedom to choose between wendy's and macdonalds. if anything its the most brainwashed society. wake up. if i were a geek i would probably know alot more about all the little buttons in the gui. even make some fake documentary videos."

Yeah bitch, go speak greek on some Greek forum that nobody in the world gives a shit about. Face it, nothing in the world would change if Greece was wiped off the face of the planet, AND nobody would care.

  • @patio87 Couldn't have said it better myself. Go ahead Greeks, brag about crap that happened hundreds of years ago. LOL.

  • @greenbeaverfilms all that he failed, you jus said people din`t like them, well many people are stupid and unsophisticated and if all tha matters, is a film`s reception that all filmss will become hallow actio films. It is iresponsible to make a review souley on the general consensus, in the words of Mattghew, just because many people believes sometjing doesn`t make them right in the slightest. Thi a free and intelectua society in which we have made it a standard to us RGuments and logic.

  • @3dnextstage and co-writer for V and VI, plus superviseer, and he was excecutive prodyucer for all 3 filnnms. He was also responsible for the great weffects, so it wasn`t only his talent t find the right peoplem hr jus has a great visio9n, and is a great writerm diector and producer, and great weith effects and castibng, also what did you ever do, did you even make 1 great film, gimie a cal when you do.

  • @3dnextstage Another one with the same dumb argument: someone needs to be an accomplished expert in a subject matter in order to criticize anyone who works in that subject matter. Based on that brilliant logic (LOL), what great writing accomplishments do you have that makes it OK for you to judge what great writing is? Based on the grammar you have used here, I would venture to say none.

  • @greenbeaverfilms Are u in writing/? Also evwen if you are, you don`t need to be a priofesional writer, to judge films. You jus need to have good arguments, you don`t have those at all, so even i you are in writing, I can certainly still question you, cause I actualy have points indstead of support.

  • I dont know how to respond to this mockumentary. I can see the Lucas-'haters' side, I guess. But, I think George Lucas is such a brilliant creator - I dont understand why someone would think his creations were anything less. "His fall from grace - fat and greedy ways" - someone else's opinion. Please dont hate. This really wasnt a thought out 'mockumentary' at all. There should have been humor or songs. What negativity? Wow. Poor taste here.

  • Hahahaha, this documentary is ridiculous. I'm glad they put Anakin in the new DVD's of the old ones. It makes it more complete. Episode 1-3 were awesome movies and a huge success. The casting was great, the story was great. His kids and him being in the movie are entirely irrelevant. And about the 50's type diner, they were in like a jazz bar with musicians wearing turtle necks in Episode IV. I'm pretty sure we have that. However, I'm glad N'Sync wasn't in there; THAT would've been bullshit.

  • @PittPens1978

Although, with that said, I do however agree that it's rather annoying that he would try to please his kids when making this movie. Star Wars came into creation well before they did.

  • what kind of a nerd shoots off at star wars? man you fail as a nerd and you fail at life. Lucas is skinny compared to you. go get yourself another big mac fat boy.

  • this is hilarious, but harsh!

  • wtf george lucas is the fucking badass best man in the world what are you star trek fans you fucktards?

  • such a waste of time to watch this doc.

all bullshit made by stupid neerds about a rich cool director who did it all right.

george just did what you poeple would never do. because he has the thing, you miss forever - talent.

    you just blubber and blubber....

    go die

  • @TheOneDogmaster Since, apparently, you need to have created a master piece in order to criticize anyone in any particular field, I'm sure you don't write bad criticism of ANYONE here in youtube, unless you yourself have created a master piece, or done outstanding work, in that person's field (music, film, politics, literature, etc.), right? When you criticized the Iron Man 2 trailer, was it because they make successful movies and you just blubber and blubber?

  • @TheOneDogmaster By the way, those videos you posted of cars just passing by, and a speedometer moving (you know, the ones with less than 200 views), those really show a lot of talent. LOL

  • This is a great vid. So many people should watch it. It opens my eyes. But 2 problems:

    1. HORRIBLE narrator.

    2. It's easier to laugh at fat jokes when the joker isn't a fat ass himself.

  • to behonest i think starwars was a good set of movies i disagree with greenbeaver

and the micktakes are terribel in this i think its terribel

  • george lucas is a hack.

  • And?

  • I liked the original Star Wars from '77. Not such a fan of the sequels. Hated the prequels of the 90's.

  • Oh my god, this video is gay

  • they are so wrong i love the new star wars movies!

  • As we all know, -as George himself has said- the original trilogy is an allegory of a young director fighting the "dark side" of film industry. The movies brought him to fame and success, and he unwillingly became part of the same establishment he was against. Don't you get it? George is now a hardcore sith-master, and so he makes s(h)ithy movies. Another hint: the money making dark side wins in the prequels. I must say, he's a dark genius of symbolism.

  • the prequel films = new generation the orginial movies = older generation to me it doesnt matter to me if hey were remastered or not iv been a huge fan of star wars and both film trilogys for a long time i even read books of star wars i happen to be a fan of both book series books of star wars prequels and orginial

  • @tirayi wow i know this guy is not calling anyone fat. hello look in the mirror

  • @forreal496 Look at it this way, it's like black people calling each other the N word, so it's ok.

  • @greenbeaverfilms yeah but the guy in the video is really fat is that you

  • @forreal496 I'm not the guy in the video (he was just doing me a favor), and I'm not fat. However, I have been fat before, so I know, if you are fat, it's because you are letting yourself be fat. I was never bothered by fat jokes when I was fat. I think making fun of fat people is perfectly fine. If they don't like it, they can do what I did, put down the pizza and go exercise. I also mock Lucas for being fat because I think it's very symbolic of who he was become. Success has spoiled him.

  • Producer Gary Kurtz was the only man that would stand up to Lucas. He was involved with A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back, more often than not considered the 2 best films of the saga.

Watching the documentaries for the prequels on the DVDs makes me ill. You could easily see the ass kissing going on with his crew.

  • If the worst thing that George Lucas did was fail, then I want to fail like George Lucas.

  • I think its fair to be critical of the work, but not the man.

To say it doesn't take talent to surround yourself by the right people, you're wrong. Yes, its possible that financial pressures moved the new trilogy, but due to the 25 year gap, you have to understand that NEW is the keyword i used in its description, and that it is not going to have the same cultural impact or reception by a completely different generation.

  • I have mixed feelings on the prequels and the new Indy film, but I think the vast majority of fans seem to have very generic arguments as to why Lucas has lost his touch and resort to arguments about his weight and finances rather than focus on the issue of his artistic choices.

  • Haha.. LOL.. these nerdy guys: "when you think of a jedi you think of someone tough and rough.. well someone like ME!! Pass me the bowl of dorritos mommy.." I find it rediculous that the dorks complain that a hot guy was cast as anakin, only because it rubs in the fact that; No, you would not be able to score Natalie Portman, Hayden would xD The only way the nerdy lonely guys would have been happy is if George had cast himself.. and wore glasses :)

  • Well, I don't know what dorks complain about, but my documentary complains about A BAD ACTOR being cast as Anakin.

  • yea what you say is correct.

well the new ones are real good but not good as the old ones. I saw like about more than 1thousand films (im studyin films actually) and the old starwars characters really do give big impressions.

but the new don't . The new ones maybe not charateristic as the old ones but ut developed in many aspects. some say that even a amature would make a better story than him but the new stories are real great compared to general films .

  • And im not saying he did his best in connecting the OLD and the NEW but im saying he quite did a good job,

'being able to read the recent generations perferance'. and i couldn't express all that i have in mind cause english isn't my first language. well too bad.

  • English isn't my first language either. I just saw Toy Story 2 and it has several references from the first SW Trilogy. For the last 30 + years many movies have paid homage to the original trilogy. Do you actually think that 30 + years from now anyone is going to be inserting references in their movies from this last trilogy? I don't think so, this current generation has already moved on. There's Narnia (as you said), LOTR, Harry Potter, etc. The impact of both trilogies is not even close.

  • Also, it's no about what generation Lucas is trying to satisfy. It's about how crappy the second trilogy is compared to the first. The current generation thinks they like the trilogy as much as the older generation, but they have no idea of the great impact the first trilogy had on the culture of its day. The only impact of the latest trilogy has been on the technical side (shooting all digital movies). The story and the characters had no lasting impacting and have already been forgotten.

  • So if a movie like godfather, benhur is rated 100 i would say old starwars are 97 and the new are 89 , and generally films rate 70~82 what im saying is even its worse than the old ones . still estimating george lucas with his new films he is engeious compared to many general directiors, he should nver be called 'untallented'

  • @greenbeaverfilms It just happens that The Simpsdons also paid possitive homage to The Phantom Menace.

  • @reviewreviewer1 The Simpsons have hung around way too long. It doesn't surprise me that they would do that, after all, they must have run out of topics ten years ago. Whas it as good as Family Guy's "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strike Back" spoofs? Also, you did notice that I was talking about paying homage decades after the fact, right? Anyone can spoof a recent movie to be topical/current in order to pull in viewers, it doesn't mean the movie has had a great cultural impact.

  • if you want to say,It's cause i saw the new ones first ,its wrong because for example like in narnia i saw the new one- then i saw the old ones , well the old ones i saw were more facinating than the new ones. And agin i say George lucas has no reason to waste his effort just to satisfy old fans , everyone knows that the old fans that remain are over 40 they are manias and those manias are outnumbered to the new fans. movies have to evolve, reading the needs of the recent movie customers

  • But starwars is were different, unlike the movies with a history(ones with a history, usually the original or the first movie is better), the newer ones were developed, more satisfying (but one thing that makes me upset, the ailens come out less yes this is the only prob i could say)

  • Comment removed

  • frankly I am not the old starwars generations, well i have seen all starwars more than 3times .

When i saw the first new versions , i was absobed to it. Because of the new version. i got my interest to the old ones.

the old ones are better in story i agree and I had real much fun watching it. but the old ones don't facinate me much as the trilogy of narnia, Narnia; even the old series ,no the old series was even more facinating to me it was awsome even though the graffics were like omg..

  • George lucas... if he had made the movie the same as the previous 4,5,6

the movie would have been a dedication for the old fans(and would have been really, not attractive to new generations). The old movies were made for the teens and the 20s who have their youth and interest in Science and so does the new ones its for the new generation.

I don't get george Lucas has to dedicate his time to satisfy the old fans who are about in their late30's and 40's.

  • you dont know how much star wars' impact to todays generation. this video is one sided. Star wars is revolutionary. look beyond the future- don't look back in the past. todays star wars fans have doubled.

  • Respectfully, I don't think you know how much the original trilogy impacted the culture of its generation. There's no comparison between the two. This current generation has moved on to the next big thing. The video is not just one sided. The first part is dedicated to the positive influences that Lucas and the original trilogy had on movies. And I would like to know how you measure that the fans have doubled. The impact of the original is still felt today, the second, already forgotten.

  • @greenbeaverfilms That`s only because the special effects aren`t as overwhelming and because they aren`t as simple.

  • I like how the author of that book call Lucas fat and is fat ass himself... But Lucas is in his 60s and that dude is like 25-30.

I think that all SW movies are great, all haters are just a bunch of jealous geeks. He is multi-millionaire and icon of cinema history and you are sitting infront of your computer, flaming in comments. And why must Lucas do something to please you ? It's his movies, he can do whatever he wants. You dont like it ? Fuck you then, dont watch it !

  • i will say no more i perfer to be a peaceful person

  • How dare u insult him

  • I think the last three movies were an insult.

  • stupid video, insulting Lucas like that..

  • Yeah, how dare people have opinions different than yours. LOL

  • because its george lucas...

  • i love how these people thought they were funny

  • George is AWSOME!

  • that is not true star is about siths a jedi

goege lucus was never fat that one guy talking was a fat ass.goege lucus is making starwars episode 7 in 2012

reborn of the empire it is a palviteen force ghost clones him self and luke trys to lean the dark and the good side to destroy the dark lord

  • George lucas is the man

  • I loved it, and i agree with the people who made this even thow i know this is a big joke, but part 6:25 was simple ridiculous....

  • Fucking brilliant!

Eat that you scum sucking turd lucas!!

    It still burns even today

  • what ever i like all the star wars

  • BULLSHIT. And George Lucas is great.

  • got that right, these people ara fags who dont like star wars.

  • ans as far as appearing in his own film, thats not uncommon. peter jackson in lord of the rings, good movie. m night shaymalan in many if not all of his movies.

  • He was in every one of his movies. Dear god would people quit using the duel of fates in every friggin video about star wars. It is really annoying now a days.

  • yeh and stan lee all star wars are awsome

  • you know i was almost believing that this was a credible critique until about the 6:25 and on range. but because of all those fabricated bleeps and blackouts, now its just bad propaganda.

  • don't do that.

  • Blow your nose you sound like a moron

  • Man, I never heard of that Nsync rumor. That would've been worse than 20 Jar Jar's!

  • Yes I know. No offense to the talented former boy band "Nsync", but that would have been quite ridiculous to put into the Star Wars film.

  • Has the guy talking about Lucas' overweight children at 2:14 looked in the mirror lately? Not wishing to be unkind but it's basically a fat pot calling a kettle fat. Or something.

  • Yeah, the only difference is that his dad is not putting him in one of the most anticipated movie sequels of all time for no apparent reason.

  • People often put their kids in small roles in their work; it's no big deal. Also the guy being interviewed isn't really talking about that, he's talking about Lucas and his kids being overweight, which is a completely different matter and one that's a bit rich, given his own size.

  • Fat people "often" make fun of other fat people, "it's no big deal". And he is talking about beyond them being fat. You are just choosing to see everything at face value. This documentary obviously points out the differences between the early Lucas and the current Lucas. Him getting physically fat is a symbolism of what he has become. If issues with fat jokes is what you are going to hang your hat on, and ignore all the valid points being made here, then knock yourself out.

  • Err... okay. Congratulations for making a profound work of satire that would have blown my mind if only I'd been clever enough to get it.

  • No, it's not about that. It's meant to be funny and goofy in a lot of parts and in other parts, it's meant to make valid points. You chose to go one way and bring the focus to one joke completely ignoring why the joke is there in the first place. If fat jokes offend you that much, maybe you should start your own video site where you can ban fat jokes.

  • Take this crap down

  • shut up george is a great man he is a guinus and i am not a geek i love starwars

  • some good points..overall a waste of time..the star wars saga is masterful. deal wit it

  • Sorry if this wasn't as rewarding as watching a horrible amateur band perform horrible music with bad camera work, bad lighting, and equally bad sound.

  • This had GREAT points,

  • and who cares if he put himself in the movie, Stan Lee puts himself in EVERY one of his!!

  • haha, how stupid, lol they are straight out lying, when the bleep the words, making people think they were actually swearing or saying they wanna fuck the guy, dumb

  • no talent?

have you forgotten American Graffiti, he's talented he just gets criticized for everything he does.

Man do we all have to be like critics who said none of his originals were good.

i mean come on man what does being fat have to do with star wars.Get a decent review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • to be honest i like episode 1 2 and 3 alot better the first 3 wernt that great

  • they are alll great :) i love them alll :D he needs to make more though were the force brings anakin and darth vader back and all the others . They are such good films is he making more ?

  • this is ridicoluse! film 1,2,3 is brilliant as all of the star wars films. stop hating him

  • go suck a cock geoge lucas is the best fimaker of all time he pushed boundreis with 1,2,3 and has changed fim forever

  • You mean 4, 5, and 6 changed film forever? Why don't you stick to just posting videos on youtube that only you and your family find interesting.

  • hmmmm... why does it matter that he put himself and his family in the movie? They didn't even have speaking parts!

  • yeah i can try to understand

  • i agree that he fucked up with the 4th indiana jones film but come on! the old star wars films suck ass juice! In my eyes episodes 1,2 and 3 were much better. I hope that they re-make 4,5 and 6 with an older mcgregor as ben :D

  • Dude, you're 16. You can only imagine the impact that the first 3 movies had on the Amercian culture. I feel bad for your generation, you guys don't have such an iconic cultural reference. All you have is High School Musical and Hannah Montana. How sad.

  • yeah, i hate those things. And "dude", dont bring my age into it. I probably know more about star wars than you anyway lol. I'm like the ultimate geek fan for it!

  • There's nothing wrong with being 16, and I'm sure you are big fan, my point was that because you didn't see the amazing cultural success of the first trilogy, you are not able to compare just how short the last trilogy felt from even coming close to the first. George Lucas set out to create a mythology for the new generation. He succeeded in doing that with the first trilogy. The second trilogy...not so much.

  • The new trilogy more GCI less story sucky acting.

And I love the original trilogy and I'm 15.

    Hayden Cristensen sucked

  • thats what u fink he was soo good

  • IT'S NOT FUNNY, You are so wrong about Revenge of the Sith, it was the best film in the saga, why have a gruge aginst it.

  • This is very funny. To anyone who has a problem with the comments in this documentary, this is all I have to say: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Enough said.

  • This is the saddest documentary I have ever seen, probably done by two very "sad jealous want to be film makers" I have never heard of anyone who hates George Lucas... what a waste of my time...

  • You have never heard of anyone who hates George Lucas?!?! Then this must be your fist time on the internet.

  • "There were no missiles in the original trilogy"?

    Really?

    THAT'S what's pissing you off?

I think the critique of the prequel trilogy is classic baby with the bathwater stuff. Fans find it generally disappointing because it didn't live up to their absurdly stratospheric expectations and then demonise the entire series and its creator as evil and decadent.

As someone who missed the 'Star Wars' mania of the '70s and '80s, I can say that the prequels are more entertaining than the originals.

  • If you "missed" what Star Wars was about in the 70's and 80's, then you are a moron for even attempting to judge the originals versus the new series and your judgment is rendered null. The original trilogy created a cultural phenomenon where characters and quotes from the movies seeped their way into multiple levels of what was the American pop culture.

  • In contrast, no one gives a rat's ass about the last trilogy. The characters were not memorable (if anything, they are punch lines for jokes) and there were no memorable quotes. You can be a simpleton and pretend that it's all about "missiles", but realty proves you wrong.

It would be interesting to see how you would feel about a Blade Runner prequel starring Miley Cyrus and Shia LaBeouf.

  • I'm much more interested in discussing these films on their merits instead of just citing what appears to be the popular opinion at the time as an argument. After all, once upon a time, public consensus said that 'Blade Runner' was a piece of shit. And we all know how that turned out.

Characters and dialogue that you've grown up with since the age of 10 - and that have since become a part of pop culture - are always going to be more "memorable" than characters and dialogue that have only been around for a few years in a series of much-maligned prequels. There's nothing mysterious about that.

In case you're interested, here are my micro-reviews for the prequels.

    EP.1:

Main flaws are (a) multiple protagonists split emotional focus of the story, and (b) second half of second act suffers from poor pacing and the first act takes too long to get to Tatooine. What I liked was the optimistic tone and art design of the film.

    EP.2:

Probably the most balanced and best written of all three prequels.

    EP.3:

First half is a little bloated. I liked the fact that it was so unexpectedly emotional. I think the Order 66 sequence is already a part of 'Star Wars' Hall of Fame.

  • On the contrary.

The fact that I wasn't whipped up into that "cultural phenomenon" means that I have a more objective outlook on the films.

The fact is that all six 'Star Wars' films are flawed. Much of the first half of the original 'Star Wars' is remarkably ill-paced (I'm thinking specifically of the first 15 minutes where we're forced to follow the travails of those awful droids through a desert wasteland), and the only saving grace of that half is the wonderful Alec Guinness.

  • The 'Star Wars' films have ALWAYS prioritised special effects over character and story.

It just so happened that the nature of cinematic spectacle had changed so vastly since the original 'Star Wars' trilogy, and the expectation for the new films was so high, that the wow-factor of the original series would never be replicated.

That's what happens when you see something as a ten year old, only to see it re-done 30 years later. The films haven't changed, only the audience has.

  • Yeah, Morimoto is a Chinese name!!! He's Japanese you jackass. But hey, you are from Finland, we can't possibly expect much from you. Living in Finland, I can see why you would find Episodes 1, 2, and 3 to be "entertaining".

  • since when has george lucas become a hated figure in cinema? who does that at fuck think is talking over eating? why is this doc so fucking retarded?

  • Yeah, I should stick to making retarded clips with badly animated action figures, they are very original.

  • "How did he become so hated?"

    Who hates him ?

    Jerks.

  • Google "George Lucas hate" and you'll have your answer. And, if you Google "George Lucas bad director", it finds 9,480,000 references.

  • This guy is bashing Lucas about "being fat"; he needs to take a look in the mirror at himself!

  • Why in the world would anyone bash on Lucas unless you are a completeley unappreciative person towards works of art and beauty? Jealousy will get you no where, while intelligence, vision, and inspiration will! Good luck with success in this life (With your great attitudes!) Sincerely, Jassen

  • Sorry to break it to you Jassen, but there's such a thing as bad art. Also, there's such a thing as good artists producing bad art. We just seem to have a different view of art appreciation. Apparently, you think people should be mindless robots and accept all art as good. I, on the other hand, believe in critical analysis and in pointing out negatives as well as positives (noticed I didn't say negative things about the original trilogy?). Ever heard of "Beauty is in the eye the beholder"?

  • George, if you are watching this don't be upset. These people who made this are nerds and need to get a life...lol.

  • Gobb shites who made this, so funny do. Don't know what that means.

  • this bio is fucking retarded

  • i wish Darth Maul killed jar jar that would have made the pahntom menace better but it was still great i love everything star wars that fat bastard can fuck off this was sadder than jar jar i cant BELEIVE that fat fuck is claimed the biggest star wars fan is he fuck the revenge of the sith was by far the best so fuck off yu old fat fucks!

  • Personally, I like all the Star Wars movies and George Lucas, but I have to admit this was still pretty funny. Favorite part, when you gave the reasons for it being PG-13, nice

  • man the new ones were baaaaaaaaaad

  • gayyyyy

  • It's hilarious watching a pile of whale shit making fun of anyone else for being fat.

  • It's called irony, and yes, it is funny.

  • All I heard was you commenting on one of the most inspiring men on the planets weight.

You really are a bitch. XD

  • If you watched the last trilogy and still find this man "inspiring", you have my pity.

  • I dont want your pity. But you want mine, here it is.

    G-E-T A L-I-F-E

  • Wow, your eloquent retort has indeed inspired me.

  • Good.You need inspiring with such a dead,boring voice.

  • That's not my voice, but I'll be sure to tell her. Maybe she'll be inspired too.

  • why is the commentarry so slow.

  • People who can't write think that writing is VERY important for a visual and auditory experience such as movies.

Let me let you in on a secret that any inspiring writer or writer surely has already discovered: Books are by far the most entertaining writing media. Movies are there for the visual conceptualization of complex written paragraphs that some one thought could be much more easily translated to visual.

  • I love George Lucas! It insults your intelligence to even manufacture such a narrow perception. This, is the worst conspiracy theory I have ever witnessed. Such an obsession would be needed to concoct this lie.

How can someone insult George Lucas in such a way without ever knowing him, and with such a weak basis.

  • I guess someone can insult George Lucas without ever knowing him the same way someone can REVERE him without ever knowing him.

  • I could go on (and on, and on) about reasons why this very narrow perception of this underenthusiastically narrated documentary neglected to explore any of the real differences between Lucas' ealrly films and his later work (aside from constantly mentioning that the later films had too many effects - go back and watch the original trilogy. They may look outdated by todays standards, but those were cutting-edge effects in their time, just as the effects in the prequels were in theirs).

  • I have a piece of advice for you and anyone else who a) takes offence at the fat jokes and b) decides to be overly analytical about minor details: whenever you see something clearly labeled as a "mockumentary", that's a cue for you not to take it too seriously! Tahnk you.

  • 4. Yes, George's films have changed as he's aged, become less edgy. But so have the films of all the filmmakers of his generation (Coppola, Scorsese, DePalma). The reason is that filmmaking in the 70's was very different from now. The political climate was ripe for cinematic exploration. In his later films Lucas didn't feel the need to comme
