Shes not magical because she's from the 70's and has no special singing skill, she's just some rollerskating actress, the thing that makes her a good singer isn't skill, that's been obsolete since hank Sr, but its her singing style.
Olivia's stage performance has a little more goofiness and humor than Shania's. But they are two of the best. And also sooooooooooo very beautiful. I do see some Olivia influence on Shania's stage performance.
Olivia should have performed in the Last Waltz concert. This show is the same year of the Last Waltz.. I am surprised Martin Scorcese did not put her in the lineup.
Again my favourite Olivia Newton-John song! I personally think (after listening to about 10 versions live and studio!) that this is the BEST version of them all, the tempo and the way Olivia sings in this version is just right! PERFECT!
First came "if not for you" then "banks of the Ohio" and "Take me home country roads" so when this came - I was already hook!! love you Olivia - then and now!!
It sounds crazy, but when I was very young, I liked Olivia's songs, but at first I didn't know what she looked like. Whenever I saw her picture in printed media, I would think "what a beautiful model". Eventually I put two and two together and figured it out though. ONJ was also the trigger that made me realize girls were beautiful creatures and not just little people with cooties!
The young singers who are out now should take note: this woman sang the song with only backing vocalists(not prerecorded tracks), stage monitors (not an earpiece to hear the pitch and volume) and sang in key (again without an earpiece to provide the pitch). That's what a true singer and vocalist does.
ONJ didnt write the lyrics for this song.Perhaps you are confusing the `John Rostill` credits ? This song was a sole composition by John Rostill ( who also composed Please Mr Please & If You Love Me Let Me Know ). John was the bassist with British group The Shadows .
Sadly John died 25 years ago in 1973 when he was electrocuted in a recording studio and never lived to see ONJ`s success with his songs.
maravilhosa
