In 1970 my dad had a blue one. What a bad ass car it was!He couldn't go anywhere in the small town of Victorville back in those days without some cop pulling him over for some stupid reason. What memories!!
This looks like a 428 car. Over in verona near where I live there is a orginal 429 car. Been sittin for years. Proably needs jsut a $1000 jsut to get it streetable. (floor panels a bit rusted tail/head lights busted and ofcourse proably fuel pump/starter/fuel line/tires/brakes/radiator ect..) But damn would it be worth it. And it does have the orginal 429 in it. Ive been save'n up to see if I have unuff to bribe the old man that owns it ;)
The option stock wheels were Ford Magnum 500's. This is a CJ car not the very rarer SCJ. Big difference in the engine. Also it was never a "Torino" as they had a completely different tag and the SCJ body was mostly a Falcon as they were lighter. This car has been hacked up I hope the buyer didn't pay a premium for it.BTW, I owned an SCJ numbered car from 1979 till 2009 and know them quite well. I regret selling her every day. She wasn't a parade or show car, she just hauled ass.
I had a 1970 Dark Blu. I had SOOOO much fun with it! Outran a CHP on Interstae 505. The sad part was that it wasn't that hard! I pulled the stock exhaust off and installed Hedman Headers, Hurst competition shifter, Accel supercoil, Mallory Dual point ignition, etc. It was an absolute head-turner - besides being a blast. I miss it terribly! (Stupid kid traded it in on a Camaro.) >:-(
At 3:18 a seed from the AVITAR movie appears by the right exhaust pipe. It is a sign!. Reference the Avitar movie when Sully just met the main girl being in the movie and the seed lands first on her arrow, then a few minutes later a bunch land on him which makes her bring him to the elders. I love this car but could resist posting this little rambling. I had a 71 Torino 351 back in high school but drove it into my house. Not good. For me, the house, or my car.
I can't wait to fix up my 1971 Ford Torino GT. I'm 19, so by the time I'm 21-22 it should be done. Oh man... I'm taking a road trip as soon as that time comes!
like it but something about it doesnt make me envious .... maybee its the fact that it sits in a show room and does nothing .... at least my car i drive and get a little dirty on it ... put 1000 miles on it since january ... not to bad for a show car restoration
This car is a restored car because it has a 1971 Cobra grill I know because I owned a 1971 Cobra Jet C coded car, like you say without the shaker hood with bench seats and a colume shifter.
@e4300 however if the car was one of the Pace Cars at one of the designated tracks in the U.S or Canada the Ford Racing Clinic prepped some of these cars with Cragar SS mags and Michilin tires (sponsored by both companies) and some of the convertibles had a rear spoiler put on them as well. However the Pace cars I have seen are all pastel blue. Personally I think the mags look nice on this car.
Hey,Nice car,but to let you know a 'C' code means 429 CJ WITHOUT the shaker.Someone has added the shaker if this is a 'C' code car.Shaker cars all have a 'J' for the engine code.Cheers,Bill

Too bad the durability on these were horrible. Paint peeling and rusting. Dad owned one.
Nice car regardless though.
