I just found out how to stop the home sharing icon from disappearing! do this:

1- If you have already set up home sharing, go to advanced in iTunes and turn off home sharing.

2- go in to the home sharing tab and set up home sharing

3- do NOT press done! :Plol that's what worked for me :)

I enabled home sharing on my home pc and my laptop. I have 1 song on my laptop, and that shows on my home pc. But I'm trying to get the thousands of songs from my home pc to my laptop, and yet nothing shows up! All the apps from my central computer does not go into my new computer :/...it may have at one point, and I deleted it, but now when I click "items not in my library" the apps arent there and itunes 10 doesnt have that whole drop down thing :/

whenever I try to drag music to the iPod icon from my music folder, for some reason it doesn't let me drop the music there. The cursor stays as the 'cancel' sign. Does anybody get what I mean and getting the same problem?

is this tool only for americain users. I have enabled Homesharing with another computer, I can play songs from the other user however it's not allowing me to click and drag songs to my library. I checked all the settings and everything is up and running, it just wont allow me to copy song!!! HELP!!!

Everyone who's having problems with not getting the little house needs to do this: just turn off home sharing on both machines then turn it back on making sure to use the same username and that should solve the problem.

1. Activate Home Sharing on both Macs, using one Apple ID

2. The Home Sharing button on the left tab disappears.

3. On Mac A., open the Shared Library from Mac B.

4. Select and drag songs onto the Library of Mac A.

5. When desired, disable Home Sharing under the Advanced menu

This is assuming you have turned on Look for Shared Libraries and Share My Library in iTunes preferences of both Macs.

Deauthorize both computers by going into the "Store" tab on the top bar and clicking "Deauthorize Computer" in Itunes. I then turned homesharing off by going into the "Advanced" tab by clicking on "Turn off Home Sharing". I then clicked the homesharing icon on the left sidebar and while this window was open, I went back up and clicked to "Authorize computer", signed in with my email and password, then signed in with my email and password on the homesharing window.

Ok, I have a problem. I turned on Home Sharing on both my desktop and my laptop. I just got my laptop today and I was wanting to transfer all of the music I have on my desktop to my laptop through iTunes. Both computers are connected to the same router which is connected to a modem. steps to fixing the home share tab disappearing:

1. Sign out of your account

2. Go to the advanced drop down menu, and select turn off home sharing.

3. Quit out of iTunes

4. Launch iTunes

5. Go to the advanced drop down menu, and select turn on home sharing

it should re-appear...as if by magic.

Anyone looking for answers to the homesharing tab disappearing there are 2 possible solutions: 1. If you have a firewall that might possibly block this as spam you can temporarily turn it off to use this or go to your firewall settings and put the port numbers in as exceptions. 2. If that doesn't work you can check your itunes "edit" tab, check preferences and sharing option. Make sure "look for shared libraries is checked. Good Luck!

you have to have the iTunes store loged in with an account on each computer, then you have to make sure that each computer is Authorized. Store>Authorize computer. Then type in the same login details for each of the computer's home sharing.
