the olympics bring alot of tourists, is viewed by over 4 billion people world wide, it is cared about, if you have a business you makes LODES of money of the olympics, all the tourists and athletes staying in your hotels, eating at your resturants etc you quadruple the money you make any other time of the year. not only that alot of renovations take place to make the city better and money made at the olympics pays for those, police, sanitation and has extra!

Besides, they might have to move the Olympics out of Rio. In fact, I think it would be a good idea given the recent crime wave. I doubt things will improve between now and the Olympics.
