  • gave me a headache.

  • Why the last 5 seconds? Was great up till then.

  • Mr Hitchens is fantastic, isn't he?

  • Thank you so much, this video is awesome at so many levels!

  • As always, thoroughly enjoy anything Hitch says.

A+ for you excellent use of Youtube Crantz!!

  • Love the video, completely lost all sense of sanity at the ending though...

  • Much kudos and mana, excellent presentation.

  • now I wanna try some human flesh :|

  • berqcrantz ..... YOU MY FRIEND, ARE A BAD ASS. I REALLY ENJOYED IT. THANKS.

  • ManBearPig Is An Inconvenient Truth.

  • Why the hell did you have to have that ending? I usually read the comments before I finish the video, but didn't this time. Damn.

  • This is such a neat presentation of one of my favorite parts of God Is Not Great.

  • Makes me wanna eat chops!!! And sauages, bacon, trotters, crackling and ham. What an amazing animal how can anyone hate it.

  • I had always theorized that religious abstinence (or indulgence) from pork was derived from the the way bovines (and many other mammals) regulate their body temperature. The hot climates of the middle east coupled with the pig's lack of sweat glands lead our pink friends to wallow in available mud, sometimes excrement (similar in fact to behaviors of savanna dwelling elephants). This association with “wallowing in ones own filth” had thus lead to the existence to “porkophobics” and the like...

  • @AnIronicSobriquet ...who see the pig as a "Dirty animal" and unfit for human consumption. I also believe the reason why none (and I use the word “none” tentatively as I’m no expert on Native American belief systems) of the pagan religions of Northern or Western Europe, Scandinavia or the Americas seem to have any aversion to pig, is purely and simply due to climate.

However, I found Mr. Hitchens' theory extremely well thought out and as always very well articulated.

  • What the fuck?! Jesus man! Just cut out the last 5 seconds. You turned a perfect video into a screamer.

  • Thank you God for rebutting man made religion thru this man. I save.

  • haha I love how the 90's is presented with a psx console.

  • Great stuff

  • Incredible effort, well done m'lad!

  • Playstation 1 console = 1990's. Nice!

  • Beautifully done.

  • @thescorpionking2020 Sir, I believe you have misconstrued this reading into something lesser than the sum of its parts. Perhpas you should listen or research more in-depth?

  • 6:20 onwards= Hitchens just OWNED Fred Phelps haha

  • This is a wonderful video. I'm a Graphic & Interactive Design Major, and a huge Hitchens fan. Wonderful type treatment, and witty imagination with the added straight vector images. Seems to fit him wonderfully. :) Beautiful Typography.

  • Otherwise great typograph and Great speech. Get well soon hitch.

  • I think that it was Simon not Ralph who said that

  • @ahimsa1999 Then rationally, what do you suppose we do about replacing said lost food source for the time being? Grow more crops? That would end up taking up more resources then most people are willing to allocate to make such a switch. Seeing as the infrastructure is already in place, not to mention, what about all the domesticated animals that would be 'freed' due to this. We can't very well keep them and not use them for sustenance. So, I would like to hear, your plans then.

  • make more!

  • mmmmm bacon

  • too much dynamics, I ended closing my eyes and listening.

  • The eating mammals - IS Cannibalism!

And we cannot even think of ourselves as remotely humane, moral, or rational until that devastatingly cruel barbarism becomes a CAPITOL OFFENSE.

People usually justify the immoral( and unhealthy) act of 'flesh eating' by stating: "I like it". All that suffering just to satisfy a conditioned blood-lust.

  • @ahimsa1999 I essentially agree. I think- or would like to think- that we're generally on an upward curve as a civilization. One day I think it will be widely accepted that things like slaughtering animals (and humans, for that matter) are wrong, and look back on us like we look back with disappointment on earlier cultures. We're just not quite there yet.

  • @ahimsa1999 Cannibalism (from Caníbalis, the Spanish name for the Carib people,[1] a West Indies tribe formerly well known for their practice of cannibalism),[2] is the act or practice of humans eating the flesh of other human beings. It is also called anthropophagy. A person who practices cannibalism is called a cannibal.

    Wikipedia.

    eating mammals is not cannibalism.

  • @lordrazi111693 His whole point was completely lost on you wasn't it, you poor stupid creature.

  • @ahimsa1999 That is not the definition of cannibalism. If you changed the definition, it would become morally acceptable to the majority of people.

  • The ending scared the shit out of me, I was not ready for that. haha

  • oh god my eyes.

  • That was painful. The text is too snappy, or too poppy. I felt like I was getting poked in the eye with each word.

  • I remember this from listening to his audiobook. what a pleasure to listen to his voice..

  • Most obnoxious presentation of text ever

  • @HubertHoratio The question is, how were you able to judge your own comment before you posted it?

  • /wiki/Pig#Health_issues

  • Hitchen's dialogue was very interesting, and the font/writing animation was so good I was being distracted from what was being said, even though I was reading what he was saying. Altogether, amazing stuff.

  • he's a master of his craft.

  • This kinetic typography stuff was really clever when I first saw it (probably the Pulp Fiction one). But now, it's overdone. And not only is it overdone, this one goes as far as to do an entire 9:33 video in the style? I'm dizzy. It's ridiculous. At what point in the project did they realize this was a bad idea, but go ahead and do it anyway?

  • Ok the typography visuals where original and refreshing at first but this shit just doesn't work for a 10 minute video and is actually just extremely annoying now.

This video has killed any favor I had for typography based videos forever.

  • Good words, ruined by the presentation. I really wish graphic designers would fuck off and stop doing shit like this.

  • @redrum12 Good graphic designers accentuate delivery of information. Bad graphic designers crowd out information by way of exaggerated flashy design.

This was made by a bad graphic designer.

  • I really do love this way to present a text. Thank you for putting in the time.

  • My teeth are unthoughtfully chewing, subconsciously reveling in the texture of crisp bacon. Even if I could not taste the delicious oily strips, the crumbly crunches of meat are enough to satisfy my need for swine flesh.

  • Love how "1990's" is a playstation

  • this is exhausting to watch.

  • This should have way more views than it does. Hitchens is such a treasure.

  • what's the song at the end?

  • Someone needs to work on audio book software that would present entire novels like this.

  • Nice work, always time for some Hitch.

    (It's Consecrated, not concecrated)

  • heaven does not hate

    18] And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

[19] Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

[20] And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

  • @zragisha YAWN

  • I almost had a heart attack at the ending when it went "doo doo doo" but anyway, great vid

  • Oh well, now I'm hungry

Ham and cheese sandwich here I come!

  • Hmmmmmmmm Canadian bacon!

I've hunted wild game but when I had to deal with two pigs and slaughter them some really did set in during the killing and it did feel more like murder than just getting meat. I did not enjoy the act at all........but I love bacon so would raise another if I had the space.

  • I have a yearning for a bacon sandwich

  • Just a note on the visual presentation: While very intriguing and entertaining, the affect only lasts for a few moments. After that, it becomes visually overwhelming and annoying. At that point, the Hitch portion of the program becomes lost.

Keep the technique, by all means. Just, in future - use it more sparingly.

  • @nlperpave Just close your eyes and listen then.

  • Christopher Hitchens and Typography... two of my favourite things.

  • I loved this format. The entire book should be presented in this way.

  • what a brilliant piece of editing...5 stars

  • Excellent graphic accompaniment, but now I have to go buy the audiobook.

Yes, I've already read the book.

  • excellent video , very well put together

  • I had a baby pig as a boy, when it was trampled on by it's mother! Unfortunately it did not survive very long, since it seemed prone to being trampled on, which did not fare well with it's habit to help my uncle herd the cows! Poor Elisabeth, such a nice piglet

  • pork is tasty

  • Don't listen to this deceiver! If you want to know the truth that u are searching for then go get a book called "the case for a creator" written by a firmer hardcore atheist named Lee Strobel. He wanted FACTS to prove his atheist beliefs so he scientifically and biblically found something much greater. An excellent read. If you read it and still think you're an atheist then fine. At least give it a try. This is your soul in eternity we're talking about. You'd better be right.

  • @Mrmuscleaddict Lee Strobel is a creationist. If there were any convincing arguments for why evolution was false, it would be out there. Whatever he says about god is highly irrelevant if he can't even accept the fact of evolution. "Your soul in eternity" is it, really? How do you know the soul exists, and how do you know it survives death? And how do you know this soul-thingy will live on for an eternity? You don't know anything about it, you're making guesses because of a bullshit book.

  • genius stuff, if you could do the whole book, id buy it for 200 bucks

  • Wow. Brilliantly constructed imagery.

  • wow that must have taken a long time. Which font did you use...Helvetica? I also spotted some vc products in there. good job man and i love hitchens ;)

  • @Slayer100

Yes, mainly Helvetica. Thanks for watching :)

  • ...Pigs tend to act swinishly, as it were.

  • That's all very well, and of course he is right, and the vid is good.

However there is another group, who on ethical non religious grounds, feel that they can reduce the suffering in the world by not being part of the largest industry on the planet, the killing animal industry.

Shame this doesn't get a mention. India is actually a better place for not killing billions of cattle every year, regardless of their mythology.

  • @LouisPlume

So you eat 0 animal meat? What about things from places where animals are raised? How can you know none of your money supports that anyway

  • @LouisPlume India is actually a better place for not killing cattle? Really? Hunger and famine are ok with you?

  • @craigske Dont be stupid, I was taliking in context of the suffering of millions of our fellow creatures in slaughter houses. But if you wanna be a smart arse, if they were producing feed for cattle they would have even less food for their population, as you can one feed a cow for every 60 people.

  • @LouisPlume I'm being stupid? At least I'm not a mindless PETA regurgitation engine like you. Firstly your "fact" is greatly disputed. Secondly, cows eat native grasses that human beings cannot digest. I suppose you've never heard of free range cattle? Rangeland is not comparable to land usable for crops. And for the final point, calling someone a smart ass assumes a position of superiority, which you clearly do not possess. I believe this makes you a jackass.

  • nice

  • Wonderful video.

  • Great content, nicely presented.

  • Fantastic. How on earth did you do this?!

I'm sure the Hitch himself would love it.

  • Thanks, glad you like it.

Put together by animating text & image layers in Adobe After Effects.

  • I always wondered how it was done when I've seen this style before, i love it. Nice typeface as well. Id only say that i felt a bit dizzy with so much motion for such a long amount of time whilst trying to listen to the speech. But still props to you, very nice!

  • Brilliant

    "degustative skills" ahahaha

  • This is brilliant... both the visual and the spoken word.
