Bernard Hopkins = no class in or out of the ring. He's effective and awkward but is not a classy fighter in any way and the way he conducts himself out of the ring is not great. US boxing on the whole has been in decline for a while now. Apart from Mayweather, they have hardly any top level fighters.

Ali was lucky with the bell but he was exceptional at coming back from hard punches, and had yet to peak. Bernard Hopkins = no class in or out of the ring. He's effective and awkward but is not a classy fighter in any way and the way he conducts himself out of the ring is not great. US boxing on the whole has been in decline for a while now. Apart from Mayweather, they have hardly any top level fighters.

And Calzaghe certainly didn't fight "only inexperienced or out of prime" boxers; how does Kessler fit that? Even Mario Veit was undefeated in almost 50 fights apart from losing twice to Calzaghe, and beat the recent light heavy champ Braehmer. Hopkins was a top light heavyweight when Joe moved up a weight to beat him- as shown by his regaining the title.

Ali was lucky with the bell but he was exceptional at coming back from hard punches, and had yet to peak. Cooper lost lots of fights to much worse fighters than Ali; that knock down was his most famous moment

I think Joe would of overwhelmed Froch with the volume of punches although Froch would of been in with a chance as that volume would not of hurt him and he would of been in the fight until the very end. Froch would of pressured Joe and the stoppage is always possible. Froch is a dangerous opponent to most fighters for this reson and it's why Joe didn't want to risk fighting him. Especially due to the fact that Froch ws a nobody at the time so brought nothing to the table i.e not worth the risk

He did after all have a fight lined up v Hopkins which Hopkins pulled out of, and very few of the suggested winners v Joe has really had a record that can make a decent case for them. Froch is no mug, a pity he and Joe could not have fought when both were in prime.

The only thing I can say about Froch with confidence is that he does fight the best at their peak and all on the trot. This is slightly unfair to Joe though as it's the S6 that has caused this. Neither British nor Americans generally are great physical specimens- half are so fat and unfit they can hardly walk. Nations should be judged overall, not just a small minority of winners, but the millions of less fortunate. Too often UK follows US culture and gets the same problems. Anyway, Hopkins mistakes English for British, doesn't seem to know much about boxing history either. Calzaghe isn't even the best boxer from Wales
