  • I've good loads of work to do but i just cant stop watching this. Aaahhhhh!!!!!

  • God Bless Africa!

  • I just saw Josh two nites ago in CT. What an incredible front row experience.

  • @MaryWr1124 Did he perform this song? I'm from CT too and thought about going up for the show but am going to Orlando instead in October. :)

  • it doesn't matter now it's over any how; oh! how i wish this words could resonate everyday into the ear of every south africans child.

  • shivers :)

  • I love this song, my husband is in South Africa now. But he was born in Rwanda. Pray for Africa

  • NicksaAngel its a south african national anthem look it up on goole and it will be translated there for you but it basically means God Bless africa(Nkosi Sikelel' i Afrika)

  • the Saint Albans College South African boys choir performed this song LOOK THEM UP they are amazing!!!!!

  • @emsull31 Thanks emsull31, Can't find the link. Any ideas?

  • Beautiful!

  • could someone translate what the choir sings? :) beautiful song <3 love josh groban!

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinion as to whose performance they prefer. I like Josh's. That he does this song means many who would not have other wise heard it were introduced to it. To assume his only agenda was to make money from this is so way off base. Recording this,he knew he may lose a part of his fan base. Josh has his own foundation that supports children in Africa, His caring is real. So is his talent and his heart.

  • Stunning!

  • at 2:12, Vusi just forgets the words. I'm not a fan of this type of song. This doesn't fit Mahlasela's style at all. He's much better doing his own thing instead of Grobin's.

  • @angrysumoxxx I think it is his style. I'm a huge fan of his and I love both him and Josh in this song. As for forgetting the words, it's just one line and it happens..

  • I just noticed, at 4:56 they actually drift a little into South Africa's National Anthem. Quite fitting, I think.

  • @RyuBlue That's because the National Anthem is (basically) Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika, which was banned at the time Weeping was written, but they managed to sneak the music in.

  • I cannot get enough of this.. remember this new year that suffering and disparity still exists all over the world. Give of ourselves... as JG has and continues to do. Hope he inspires you as he has me... Love your fellow man! Happy 2011

  • I love the happiness face of the guitarist next to Josh, especially at 2:35 and 4:49, you can almost feel the happiness and pride of this culture despite the things that they have suffered

  • God bless us all !!!!!!

  • wow its all just good music its just different when different people sing. is it really worth arguing about it? Groban is a great artist. and yes its true a choir can out sing an individual. if you think that groban just sings for money then you are a fool. people dont start singing because they want money. it could be part of the reason but it takes a love of music to start singing in the first place.

'judge not least ye be judged'

  • kyk hierso julle dose stry mos nou oor kak. Hou julle bekke en gan aan met julle lewens

  • david and splash you should be embaressed by your comments... you should be thanking god that josh groban put his voice and musical talents into making this song. "robs it of its genuine feeling"... that is absurd. best thing that ever happened to this song was being put on grobans album

  • @weeednfeed sorry but I am not embarassed for knowing that a choir out sings a comercial artist like Groban, Groban has one agenda, to make money where as the Drakensberg Boys Choir is to show the true love of singing without gain of money or profit. I have worked with choirs and in the theater business for 20 plus years and I feel I am qualified to make a judgement like I did. The DBC has NO other motive than to perform.and they do it with enthusiasm and a love for the music not money.

  • @david640 except josh isnt in it for the music he jus happens to sell millions and millions of records because hes such an unreal talent people cant get enough of.. your obviously not qualified to make a judgement

  • @david640 and i like how you keep coming back to the video to see if ppl like wat you said.. i didnt reply so you must love this version of the song to come back n have it play again.

  • @weeednfeed I never said I didn't like this version, if you read my original message you read that all I said was I like the Drakensburg Boys Choir version better. You are the one who escalated the comments into a fight.Josh Groban is a phenominal talented artist who is making alot of money doing the same thing the Drakensberg Boys Choir does for free.

Lets now end this fight and get on with our lives.

  • @weeednfeed - I have to disagree with you on every account here. The only good to come out of Groban singing this song is that Americans got to hear it. Yes he sings well but he doesn't convey the same emotions when compared to others who have sung it like Bright Blue (the original), SSQ, Qkumba Zoo or Vusi Mahlasela. Just because an artist has talent does not mean that they can do a song justice!

  • david640. Agree absolutely. Josh Groban sings "Weeping" in a typically pop-star manner and robs it of its very genuine feeling. I don't just like the Drakensberg Boys' Choir a little better; I like it heaps better! It's hard to decide between the original recording by Bright Blue, Dan Heymann's band (he wrote the song and plays keyboard) and the Drakensberg boys. Both sing it with far more sincerity than Josh Groban.

  • What a beautiful message to all africans and to all the people who lives in captive. And for everyone else for that matter :)

  • No offense to Mr.Groban or his fans but I like the version that is done by the Drakensburg Boys Choir a little better.

    Just look up DBChoir Weeping

  • Josh Groban and Vusi Mahlasela perfect performance......vusi voice is silky -amazing......long live africa may we rise again....1 world

  • The Soweto String Quartet did a beautiful rendition of this song. "Weeping"

  • @A2Assassin And what are you???

  • I'm a 14 year old guy, and i absolutely love this song. It just kind of saddens me to know that my generation is probably watching videos of some video game about killing each other, rather than spending time listening to great music...

  • It doesn't matter now, It's over anyhow...

Love, for Africa, for this whole World.

  • Duuuuude, I wish I had my own African choir to back me up while singing.

  • GOODE BUMPS!!! oh my word...

  • LOVE the song and the video. HATE the words scrolling across the bottom of the screen. I would love to share this video, but won't because of the scrolling.

  • perfecto

  • GREAT SONG !!! I LOVE IT! GOD BLESS AFRICA !!

  • GREAT SONG !!!

  • Pretty lame compared to the version the Soweto String Quartet recorded with Vusi Mahlasela.

  • How about a tribute to the song writers and original artists. A couple of white kids who also hated apartheid. Written in 1986, the very peak of apartheid death squads where the state had no problem locking up or murdering white opposition to the government.

The writer is now a founding member of Freshly Ground.

  • gives me shivers every time

  • stunnig

  • awesome :D i was so excited to see vusi at pre-opening concert in south africa :D

  • Beautiful !!!

  • Er... I meant his speaking voice.

  • Vusi Mahlasela has a rather unique voice. What's his singing voice like?

  • vusi mahlasela's voice- wow!! this collabo is amazing..

  • beautiful

  • Who is the lady in all white? I love the way she received the lyrics of the song. Yes, it doesn't matter, it's just the world that is sleeping. I love this performance.

  • @Reggaebringbacklove she looks like one of the American actresses

  • @Reggaebringbacklove

I can't be certain because it's just a fleeting shot of her, but it looks like Alfre Woodard.

  • Josh Groban voix et le chant nous transporte dans un lieu de lumière et des ténèbres, le Bien et le Mal. Sa musique peut nous montrer ce qui se trouve en nous-mêmes, les gens autour de nous, et le monde.

  • I love the whole song, but my favourite part is when they sing in African :)

  • Josh Gorban est un magicien de la chanson, avec savoix il sait nous transporter dans un autre dimention

  • awsome!!!!!

  • I love u Josh!

  • Amazing you guys..! saw u do this at Madiba's 90th in London Hyde Park ...and are hooked since...Especially the part you go African....Nkosi Sikeleli Afrika!!!
