  • Please I want to know what is the name of the demo song which was featured in this model? Please I really want to know

  • @Knit1For1Life The demo song is something built into the keyboard by Yamaha. As far as I know, it is exclusive to that keyboard. The model 100 uses a different demo entirely.

  • Thanks for explaining your modification. I have a not-so-old bu-very-cheap keyboard without a external audio output connector, which I will modify because I can only play it at night and I need to use headphones. I will use a solution like yours (connecting to the speaker wires) but I will use a breaking minijack, so that when the headphones are connected the speaker will be disconnected. I was not sure to do it, but your video is inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

  • @mvcode Thanks for your comment. Be sure and look at my YouTube video on the Yamaha PSS 100 where I did something similar for a fellow YouTuber. It may give you ideas and insights.

  • Thanks for this awsome video! A huge help when i did the same thing with my yamaha pss 100 yesterday. Thanks!!!

  • @Kennycomplex You're welcome! Glad I was able to help U.

  • These things sound pretty good through a decent system. Suprisingly so. I took what you've done here a bit further and added a delay circuit to a pss30. A hassle fitting it all in but it sounds cool. Give it a go if you've got a delay pedal laying about.

  • I'm a little surprised you didn't get into circuit bending this keyboard to change the sounds it makes, that's what lots of other people do when they come across keyboards like this one. Because you added this jack I take it the keyboard didn't even have a headphone output like some keyboards do.

  • @Lachlant1984 Thanks for your comment. The keyboard did not have a headphone jack. I don't know anything about circuit bending, though I have seen some interesting videos on YouTube.

  • Don't use a vacuum cleaner or you will stuff you PCB with static electricity.

  • @tassiespirit Thanks for the advice.

  • This is just what I was looking for. Excellent instructional video!

  • @corganb

    Thanks! Glad it helped.

  • @clydesight Keep up the good work though. I like your videos.

  • @tassiespirit

    Thanks for the encouragement!

  • I did the same thing 6 yeas ago but i just split the speaker wire in half and attached it to the jack with electric tape, oh and I used a 1/4 inch jack and go directly into OD/ chorus pedals with the rock guitar" and it sounds like some gigantic organ. but ya i did that when I was 15

  • thanks a lot for the info. i was succsessful in my first attempt ever with modifying electronics. i'm just wondering if theres any way you could make it so that once you plug something into the audio out hole the sound to the speaker stops? any suggestions

  • @TheGratefuljosh

You need a "cut off" jack for this, and you can get them (stereo only) at Radio Shack. The wiring is different however, and the disadvantage is that if you are recording from the Yamaha through the jack, you can't hear anything.

  • would a 3-conductor 1/8" phone jack work? it has the same input but the jack has 3 tabs for sottering

  • @TheGratefuljosh

A 3-conductor will work, but you only need two of them - ground plus either the tip or the short sleeve.

To make it compatible with 1/8 inch stereo plugs, you could jump the tip and first sleeve connections together for one speaker wire(strip a bit more wire and run it through both tabs), and the ground with the other. That way, if you use a stereo 1/8 plug, both channels will get the same signal instead of just one channel.

  • Thx Man !

can you make a tutorial video about circuit bending this keyboard !??

  • i just got this electric piano today at a flee market for 5bucks ama try to do this to it

  • $5 is about right for this little thing. Have fun mod'ing it!

  • If I want the line out to kill sound from the speaker, would I purchase a 'circuit breaking' mini jack? And, are the connections the same?

  • Yes capacitor voice, you are on the right track. You have to use a two more wires.

Wire both leads from the amp to the jack. (one for ground, one for the tip)

Run additional wires from the ground and the part the tip circuit breaker contacts to the speaker.

Now when you plug into the jack, the amp power will go to the plug but cut off the speaker.

  • thank you very much, I want to do the same mod, however cut the speaker off for live use, I am going to do this with a casio pt-10.

  • Very well explained! I like the way the Keyboard sounds, almost like a C64.

  • Thanks. I used to have a C-64 and a program by Broderbund called Music Shop. It was fun.

  • nice

  • thank you^^

  • jack zapojit ze zesilovače

(jack of the amplifier to engage)

  • Awesome video man !!!

Great help for new cricuit benders also it made me chuckle when you dropped the stereo jack :P

(I dont mean it in a mean way)

    Thank you so much :D

  • Thanks! I know you meant you were amused. Making these videos and soldering at the same time is like trying to chew gum and walk at the same time. Takes practice.

  • btw i sub to u

  • I sub to you back

  • Thank you for this video. I just found one of these little guys and now I can prepare it for circuit bending. This is great!

  • Your welcome. Thanks for watching the video and have fun with your circuit bending.

  • haha

Cool, but I bet that tune can get annoying after a while!

  • Ummm, yeah, it can. But like a jingle, it has a tendency to get stuck in your brain. Funny how that works.

  • Haha! Yea

  • Yes, it certainly DOES sound like a Nintendo game - I think of Mario Brothers when I hear it. That's part of the charm. But the little keyboard actually has many more sounds than are in the demo. I think it can be useful for specialty sounds in a mix. In one set-up, it can sound like the soundtrack to the movie "Forbidden Planet."

  • sounds like a video game

  • That's a neat keyboard and tune! The song when I heard it direct had parts that reminded me of the Sega Genesis!
