Una vocalità aerea e sognante,un fraseggio che dava significato ad ogni parola e l'assenza di forzature(quasi togliesse ai suoni la forza di gravità),consentivano a Schipa di cantare con la stessa facilità con cui parlava,rendendo bello un timbro che nel senso tradizionale bello non era,alla Gigli per intenderci.Un vero peccato che questo video ci privi della smorzatura della chiusa finale che è semplicemente da sogno.

@belcantomania Schipa e Di Stefano hanno certo fatto scuola....avevano la cultura del bel canto, cosa sconosciuta ai giovani di oggi. Nessun altro ha mai interpretato la lingua italiana a questi livelli. Peccato che questo grande patrimonio italiano unico al mondo non riesca a far avvicinare le nuove generazioni prese da consumismo tecnologia. Sarà molto difficile risentire un altro Schipa o Di Stefano se in famiglia non si educano i flgli al piacere di conoscere ed amare il bel canto.

Wonderful! The only tenor who can paralel Schipa in nuance, musicality and pace is Swedish Jussi Bjorling. His silver voice seemed to travel competely without effort, but if you know something about his life it's a miracle he had any voice at all ... Listen to Bjorlings version of Una furtiva lagrima - or anything else for that matter! The greatest tenor of all times - despite his shyness on stage and rather limited acting. Schipa was obviously a better actor ...

Un buono ascolto, vale più di 10 lezioni, di questi pseudo Maestri, diplomati con i punti del detersivo.Ascolto ogni giorno ,personaggi che si spacciano per divi melodrammatici,e tanti ragazzi vengono illusi,lapidati economicamente,e rovinati vocalmente. Absolutely. But, at spgtenor: this is not belcanto. I really love Schipa, but he was not a belcanto-tenor, he was a tenore di grazia. Belcanto needs a lot more vibrato, portamento and tempo rubato (I don´t know the words in english, sorry). If You want to hear this aria in real belcanto-style, listen to the recordings of De Lucia, Bonci, Anselmi, or also to Caruso in 1903.

Sul significato di "bel canto" c'è molta confusione. Schipa per altro si è segnalato proprio per aver bandito dalle sue esibizioni leziosismi e portamenti. Credo che in inglese tenore di grazia sia reso con light tenor, ma sono definizioni che definiscono più ai registri vocali che allo stile di canto.
