its about how he becomes the way he is on MGS4, this game takes place between Sons of Liberty and Guns of the Patriots. Maybe its a mission he fulfills when he finds Sunny and the Corpse of Big Boss. If you remember the things he told Snake on MGS4, it provides clues for what will be on MGSR

this takes place between mgs2 and mgs4, how the fuck does snake become a war machine?? this game explains how did Raiden become the way he did on MGS4. Apparently he was captured by the Patriots and put him under the same experiments they did on Gray Fox so they can get the perfect soldier. If you played MGS4 completely, they you'd find out that he is MORE of a machine physically than human.

This game was first as Solid Snake and continued as him and introduced Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2 then came Solid Snakes fathers story and came back to Solid Snake and Raiden against Vamp, Liquid Ocelot and the robotized women. This game is set between before Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 4, showing how Jack transformed into Raiden, and how he probably saved Sunny.

The eye color means nothing, the concept art was them thinking about making it brown instead of the usual blue, but they re-rendered it anyway.
