  • this has to be the dumbest critics i've ever scene. He stills tidbits from the real professionals and tries to pass them as his own. DDL's performance is handsdown the greatest performance of the 21st century and top 5 of all time. This asshole does have a valid point about the treasure of the sierra madre contesting which is the better filmm never the less they both rank among the greatest. You should spend less time criticing movie and more on sucking your own nuts.

  • Gay.

  • sorry Craig - but I drink your milkshake!

  • I like that. Funny. I give your comment 55 seconds.

  • I understand where you're coming from, but it certainly is my favorite of the year.

  • in the audiance i was in there was laughter at alot of unfunny parts, for instance when plainview was feeding eli mud and definitely in the bowling alley scene. i really loved how their was an eruption of laughter and then 5 seconds later complete and utter silence when elis skull was cracked open on the floor from the bowling pin.

  • hehe nice way to spoil the movie Hewhohasnoname! (i don't mind others might though)

  • You gave it 10 seconds?! And you dont think Daniel Day-Lewis should win the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role?

  • Correct. I take it you do. I think he deserved his Oscar for "My Left Foot," but I didn't believe the John Huston accent he used in TWBB from the beginning. What did you like about the performance? He's won most major awards so far, so he's certainly being rewarded! -1-Minute Critic

  • I've only seen Huston in Chinatown--which is one of my favorite films--but it never passed my mind while I was watching the film (Plainview's accent sounding like Huston's). As for what I liked (I actually did like the accent), its more of a matter of what I didn't like--which wasn't much, if anything, after two viewings. Nothing really stuck out as a gripe for me (Day-Lewis' performance that is). Is there any other reason why you didnt like his performance, and who's your choice for B.A.?

  • I like a smart film fan! Chinatown is right! I'll be doing a Best Actor video soon. DId you see TWBB with an audience, and if you did, how did they react to the bowling alley scene at the end? It made me and most of the people in the audience laugh out loud at how hammy it was. I don't completely blame DDL -- PTA should have told him he was overacting. - 1-Minute Critic

  • First time it was all older people (60's +)--it was a matinee on a weekday--none of them laughed. Second time was a sunday night, some laughed at "I AM THE THIRD REVELATION" and hurling the bowling balls but got quiet after Eli was hit. I think it was intentionally done to be humorous and serious all in a matter of moments--which i thought was quite effective. I'll be looking forward to your videos, I like the concept of them.

  • You also failed to mention the beauty of the score in this film, and the way it compliments the subtle build-up of events and Plainview's gradual descent into madness. But perhaps you failed to notice, because you were too busy congratulating yourself on your unfounded hatred a movie that has recieved overwhelming critical acclaim.

But why am I writing this? Regardless of what you, or I, or anyone else says, TWBB will still be a masterpiece, and your crap-assed video isn't going to change that

  • I'm not a critic and I love this movie. For a self-professed film critic, its shocking how little you seem to know what your saying.

For your information, Day-Lewis performance in this movie is not "show-boating"; its called displaying passion and being invested in your character.

I notice you have a name-tag. This doesn't surprise me. Which fast-food joint do you work at, might I ask? Or did you simply want us to know your name is Craig. Hi, Craig. Have a wonderful day.

    Oh, and fuck you.

  • I find it ironic that you played a song by Radiohead at the beginning of your vid, considering their guitarist Jonny Greenwood wrote the score this film. Surely, being a fan of Radiohead, you must at least appreciate the soundtrack?

I found countless things to admire about Daniel Day-Lewis's performance: the rawness he brought to it, the mixture of uneasiness and subtle charm with which he imbued the character. But of course you will no doubt label me "pretentious" for disagreeing with you

  • Disagree. Think this film is absolutely wonderful. I think you hated this movie before going in because you are tough on PTA and couldn't look past him and see such an amazing film.

  • Thanks for you comment. Actually, I have great hope that PTA will make a really good/great movie some day. I think he has a great maverick attitude and lots of style, but I fear he'll never write a completely satisfying screenplay. That's his weakness. I'd be interested to know what you felt made this movie wonderful. It appears to have touch a cord with many critics. - The 1-Minute Critic
