Lotus 1-2-3 was the killer ap for the personal computer platform of the 80's. But Lotus Jazz didn't go far. It was integrated Spreadsheet, Word-processor and Database. But the key commands were cumbersome and complex. And it really worked better to just have separate apps. I remember Bill Gates speaking at the PC Users Group in SF around 1987 and from how he spoke about spreadsheets, he seemed jealous of Lotus 1-2-3's dominance at the time.
