  • fantastic voice!!!!!

  • Venga... para irnos calentando en enero-febrero Barbara. Los ochentas furiosos se nos arrepegan.

  • There is another awesome 1980s German song like this (same melody) - try Mary Roos - Wenn ich dich nicht halten kann on YouTube

  • I love this song. It brings so many wonderful warm thoughts and memories back to me.

  • My parents must have liked this because it came out the year before i was born but i remember it being played, didnt know who it was by but just remembered the lyrics so typed them in........happy days :o)

  • Stan collymore sent me here!

  • She reminds me a little of Frida from ABBA in the Super Trouper vid...understated classy prettiness and she doesn't look like a silly little girl like the singers now. These days if your over say, 30, forget it.

  • one that sands the test of time classic

  • Released around the time Cliff scored with We Don't Talk and Carrie, another excellent song showcasing Alan Tarney's production.

  • This song came out the year I was born and I love it to pieces, such a memorable tune!

  • Does anyone have a video of "Think it Over" or MP3 that they could upload?

  • My primary school teacher Miss Baker loved this, she used to play this in class back in 1980. Thanks miss.

  • An absolutely BRILLIANT song, great recording and production, and of course a dynamite vocal performance from Barbara Dickson. Hard to imagine our music charts contained music of this quality considering the utter dross masquerading as talent nowadays. I know it is fashionable amongst those of us of a certain age to say 'Oh it was better in my day'....But it truly was.

    Great post, thanks.

  • I love Barbara Dixon!!

  • I wish I could meet her, what a singer!

  • Now i know i still exist! Thank you!!

  • it's still going around my head

  • A brilliant song indeed ! The guitar solo is tasty and musical and Barbara's voice sounds clear and strong !

  • Amazing to hear this again!!

  • Thanks for uploading this great track, reminds me of my hospital radio years, playing this over and over again such a great song, nice to see the video too... hopefully it will make it to iTunes one day and soon.... mark x

  • ah mind this fae when it was in the charts, i loved it then!

now as a (failed) musician, i can really appreciate the unusual key changes in this and her voice as well - all those years she was well known, i.e regularly on the two ronnies and scotch'n'wry etc., but never seemed to make it as big as she was destined for?

  • @keef71 It was a tune that never left me. Barbara's pure voice cuts through and makes it more than the sum of it's parts. Great song and very clear. She should be called Barbara "Diction". Not many songs now where you can hear the words.

  • she went to my school :L

  • Have just taken part in fiming the new Gerry Rafferty Documentary along with Barbara & The proclaimers & Billy Connoly & many others..Barbara performed Gerry's The Right Moment for the film Which will air on BBC Scotland & BBC4 in the Autumn 2011

  • perfect bonding of folk and pop

  • I remember this first time around when it was first released and I was just a kid. But after watching it a few weeks ago on you tube it's been going around my head every day. Definitely sign of a classic.

  • This is a really good 80's oldie that get's far too overlooked on radio these days!.

  • thanks again for posting. Barbara Dickson has the kind of singing voice that can tell a story. I never forgot it and nice to hear and see again.

  • Amazing, I wore her cassettes out when I was on the road, kept me going. 'Another suitcase in another hall' struck home in the early '90s when I was living in a different B&B every night

  • I like it

    Greetings maria

  • good song but i have heard better.

  • ...I say.....ding dong.......

An expertly sung quality song, thumbs up allround Babs.....& thought it was Griff Rhys Jones on keyboard!

    A great posting, Cheers!

  • Went to see her in york last week she's still brilliant. Love you barbara.

  • excellent

  • Comment removed

  • love it !!!!!!since i was a kid 30 years ago!

  • Going to see her in Lichfield tonight :)

Pity she doesn't include this song in her live set now though.

  • @parko2112

Bet you got a surprise when she opened her concert with this:)))

  • Deffo hidden gem from the classic 80's.

  • The babs

  • Good song, thank's for posting!

  • I remember this in the charts - and only now in 2011 I've seen the video for the first time x

  • Ye gods! I remember watching Barbara sing this on "CHEGGARS PLAYS POP" way back in 1981 when my age was still in single figures! I suddenly feel old!! :O

  • @mistofoles not old just well seasoned like myself.

  • Great song from a brilliant singer!!

  • Great track. Brings back a lot of memories to me too. Wish the video/audio sync was better tho.

  • memories of being 14 ...heard this night before a school exchange to France....first time abroad

  • mum was telling me about this song.

  • I was 7 when I first heard this. It brings back a lot of very great childhood memories. That summer was great ! One of the best British summers I can ever remember...

  • This is a good song . Isn't Barbara Dickson pretty in this video? What a lovely singing voice . A true classic .

  • Heard this for the first time when I was 7 years old and never forgot it. Better than alot of todays rubbish. At least they could sing back then (no autotune)

  • I agree, did you know autotune is worth billions in album sales, even has its own trailer, sick of all autotunes songs--we need real artists

  • Fantastic song!! Evokes so many memories !!

Is it me or does Barbara sound slightly Irish ?

  • @huvander she's Scottish

  • A brilliant singer, every word cristal clear. Very pleasant on the ears.

  • Awesome classic.

  • Wallangarra to Stanthrope school bus had this on radio often in mornings.. probably 4wk mmm or towoomba station..... thanks utube for helping me dig up this memory... Trent. M.

  • I can't believe this was nearly 30 years ago. An excellent song. :)

  • Her masterpiece.....

  • i love this song and its rhythm.

  • vastly underated imo. still has a great voice

  • She's nearly as good as Sheena but yeah, she has a wonderfully pure voice, unpretentious yet beuatiful in its simplicity.

  • Wow ,this is the first song i ever heard in my life...All music liking started from this song

  • Yes, alluk147, me too. Just wonderful.

  • Alan Tarney, who wrote and produced this recording, is a genius.

  • I love this song

  • Not heard this since I was 5!!! lol i know even know some of the words wow :)

  • Wow, this takes me back. I've not heard this song for years, and yet I can even remember every note of the guitar break! Love it.

  • She's a must see if she's in town. I've seen dozens of groups bands and solo artists and barbara is tops for me.

  • Fabulous, what a singer.. what a voice

  • Compare this to .......to Lady Gaga! Really puts Miss Gaga into perspective huh? Only a classical trained voice would top Barbara.

  • @Truimphful

Compare the sound of a cat being run over to Lady Gaga, she's still sound crap!

  • wow those music videos were so low budget then by the looks of it ! compared to later big productions , it just looks like someone's house! still a great song though

  • Id rather watch these type of videos than the over done big budget videos you get now.

  • i Saw barbara at york last year she was brilliant a must see when she's on tour.

  • this is a fife burd this is.....she even looks like a fife burd.....fair play babs...ah'd throw it...ever been tae gourock barbara?...pisses aw oer anywhere in the flat borin' near dunfermline ...hard lines...still babs ...always had a big soft spot fur yi....feck edinburgh luvgreenock!

  • Havent you got a bottle of vodka to drink for breakfast?

  • What??. Can you say that again in English.

  • THAT HAIR!!!

  • They knew how to do hair in the 70s (I know ... this was the 80s but only just!)

  • brilliant still even after all this time....many thanks for the up.

  • Great song heard it in a shop today

  • When I lived in the UK in the mid-70's I just loved her!!

  • Lots of us still do. She is the best

  • massive

  • ageless classic

  • Me and my mate Col have just re-discovered this gem after almost 30 years! Absolute classic!

  • @derektwilson Well done Derek. Well done Col. LOL.

  • just class if this the 1st time you have heard this listen to this a few times and you will never forget it, just brilliant real good, i was 11 when i heard this the 1st time twenty years ago i love it still one of my all time greats

  • @aliuk147 I was 4 or 5 , and I loved her , I used to sing this on on my swing while the neighbours all stood at watched LOL....

  • @TheDigitalGeisha i was the same age and have similar memorys!!

  • @aliuk147 i heard this 11 year before you i was at boarding school i was the only boy that thought this was a a great song

  • Where does the time go ? love this ecord.

  • Nearly 30 years ago, now..love this song, always have--.where does the time go??

  • face it, we are all ancient now!

  • Absolutely love Barbara.

  • It's a nice a song

  • amazing voice

  • my dad had this in his car on tape with christpher cross on the other side happy days..xx

  • The german singer Mary Roos has a very good German cover-version!

  • I remember seeing this on TV at the time. So I was astonished to find that it was in 1980 and I was only 3!!! Great to see it, thanks.

  • What a song a classic

  • that's some criminal eyeshadow, babs

    ...but delightfully kitsch! x

  • in the Agnetha Faltskog mode - see any Abba video :-)

  • How onderful to see the video. I love the song - great melody, great singer and great production.

  • An enduring favourite of mine. I had no idea that there was a video of the song until now, though!

  • Nice song.. from 80s nostalgic

  • I have always loved this track, is it really nearly 30 years ago, now??

  • I am so happy at her correct pronunciation of February also - Scottish people have great diction, contrary to what most English believe. Being English does not mean you speak the language correctly... the English of today is a million miles away from what it once was... after all, lets not forget English was an adaptation of German melded with French, Norse and Latin....

  • probably my favorite song of all time

  • Not bad for a jock...jj its a good song and I think barbara is top notch!

  • Barbara should do duet with Susan Boyle.2 great Scots together

  • Susan Boyle does not compare to the talent and beauty of Barbara Dickson. Piers Morgan and Co merley took advantage of a vulnerable person and exploited her musical talent and unusual looks for their own personal gain and that of ITV.

Now the poor woman is in the priory. She was quite contented with her seemingly dull and sheltered life and now her beautiful innocence has been tainted by evil corporatism. For shame.

  • YOU NEED SAY NO MORE WHAT A LADY

  • nice song

  • Beautiful song, Gorgeous Scottish lassie.

  • In its harmonical complexity this song is a masterwork of contemporary music on the same level of unique musical masterpieces as Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys.

Today I have finally found it again now, rught here on the web. I did not even know who the singer was nor the title and have not heard it since 1980 when I heard it on the radio somewhere just once time. I am so happy I have found it again.

  • That's a super commentary. This is Alan Tarney at his absolute best. A masterpiece of simplicity using subtle harmonies that are unique to him. The production is a tribute to a great writer who had a season of shaping future pop music. Mind you..... Barbara's pretty brill., ain't she!?

  • Great voice, great song. There seems to be a shortage of good singers and songs these days, its a shame.

  • i love this song it's my faveroite song of her but i lost my only cd of her. :'(

  • i have the 7in vinyl of this..free to any barbara fan

  • I'll have it ...lol

  • WOW

  • what ever happened to proper songs like this?

  • lovely singer.check me out while you're at it.gypwin

  • Can't believe I came across this! I haven't heard it since I was a kid - my sister used to play the cassette all the time when we were in the car., though for some strange reason the song used to make me cry (I was about 3 in all fairness)...

  • GREAT SONG!

OMG that f*ing hair and slap! Horrendous!

  • Oh shut up! It was 1980. She looks fine. She always look fine. The point about Barbara Dickson is that she's a truly great singer - even with a song as banal as January February.

  • It was a great song!

However amny also looked great with the 80's look but HER look in this is just awful!

    She is a Transvestite!

  • Oh be quiet you moron.

  • You abused Barbara Dickson. In my book that's unforgiveable!

  • I never did.

I said the styling was awful and it is!

    She didnt do the styling!!!!

  • You wrote " she is a transvestite" You think that's a compliment!!?? Do you think she'd be happy to read something like that?

  • You aren't even fit to polish her shoes.

  • THIS IS the kind of song that u can even remember and sing to even 50 years on.

Unlike the R n'B /rap fcuking boll**cks trash that seems to flood the airwaves today;which u cant even make sense of or be bothered to listen to.

  • I love this 70s record it brings all the memories back.

  • I can also play this on the keys (piano or synth).

Works well back-to-back with 'We Don't Talk Anymore', also by Tarney. Similar structure.

It still sounds very fresh for a 1980 track, although it has those 1979/1980 chord types that were in vogue at the time.

Pity about the audio-sync probs with this video.

  • Alan Tarney at his absolute best. I play this as a solo piano piece.... it really works well

  • Da kommen Erinnerungen hoch. Schöner Song aus den Endsiebzigern.

  • Is that Jona Lewie on drums? Certainly looks like him at 1:53 to 1:54

  • No, its Jeff Seopardie - he was in Pacific Eardrum - and in the Barbara Dickson band in the late 1970s and early 1980s

  • old school!! remember this off years ago!!

  • memories,i can remember this on the radio, while working as an apprentice paint sprayer fresh from school in 1980 great.

  • This record is brilliant. It brings back so many fond memories.

  • I haven't heard this since it was in the charts back in 1980! It's fabulous and brings back happy memories. Thanks for uploading it!

  • Excellent song, have.nt heard this for years.

  • I was in primary 6 and going to Aviemore with the school and the driver played this about 20 times on the journey up...still brings back great memories though.

  • Love this video. They filmed it at my house, actually!

  • great to hear this song again....

  • I loved this song when I was a kid. I still love it.

  • You can hear the Scottish in her singing. Excellent song. Thank you.

  • great post...been waiting for someone to post the original video

  • i think the lip sync is out on this one

  • nice

  • This is the first record i ever bought!

My mum gave me 99p and i bought it in Woolworths after a glass of coke and a pastie.

    Still have the single!!!

  • nice track def got that soaring feel to the vocals like moonlight shadow sung by maggi/oldfield in the early eighties the have a similar timbre to their voices

  • Ahhhhhhh, the magical era of the perm! I liked this song when I was growing up....my Mum actually went to see her at the Edinburgh Playhouse. Did Angie from Eastenders model herself on Barbara or was it kevin Keegan?

  • Thank you for uploading this song! I hadn't watch this video since 27 years ago... I was still a child and I remembered a few things... The white piano, Barbara's white clothes, the bearded dude playing the guitar...

Good to know my memory hasn't faded away!

  • The "bearded dude playing the guitar" was the exceedingly talented ISAAC GUILLORY, sadly no longer with us.

Try YT and Google searches if you require any additional details on the man and his music.

  • I checked wikipedia for info about Issac - very talented and interesting guy....I had always admired the brilliant guitaring on this superb track ... sorry to hear he has passed away .

    Billy....xx

  • SUPER Classic from 1980!!!

  • Indeed! I remember this first time round on "Cheggars Plays Pop"!!

  • This has been driving me mad for 28 years! I had parts of this song lodged in my head since I was three- it came out the week of my 3rd birthday and must have been everywhere on the radio and I loved it. But then it disappeared and everyone thought I was mad and no song was called January-Febuary then Youtube proved me right! 28 years on I STILL love this song

  • LOL!!

  • Had that experience myself with some songs, though perhaps not that long and I have found some but still some linger.

  • Can anyone tell me if Barbara Dickson appears on any of The Two Ronnies compilation DVDs? Ms Dickson and her band were absolutely BRILLIANT during their appearances. Live music at its very best. Thanks in anticipation.

  • I think a DVD of the series of the Two Ronnies from 1976 featuring Barbara Dickson is due for release later this year. In the meantime some of those brilliant performances can be seen here on YouTube. Check out 'Boys from the Men' 'Driftaway' 'Answer Me'

  • Many thanks. Will keep an eye out for this. Meet Ms Dickson when she was performing in Chess in Melbourne Australia a few years back. A lovely lady.

  • I love this song! I used to turn it up and dance to it every time I heard it on the radio as a child!

  • I love Barbara, she was one of the very first Singers I got into way back when I was in Primary School, before anyone had heard the name madonna.

Was this originally from the "All for a Song" album, I cannot get it no CD so I will digitise my cassette from 1982!

This song is a damn sight better than the Snooze-fest of songs Mike Batt gives to Katie Melua!

  • This song was the first single from an album called 'The Barbara Dickson Album" released in 1980 and produced by Alan Tarney. The album was a huge album chart hit - it went gold. Jan/Feb has been on countless compilations since then.

  • I was wondering if it was an Alan Tarne
